In this episode, I talk to Dr. Somya Rout who is a physiotherapist specializing in sports related injuries. He runs a physiotherapy center in Bangalore called Stairs Physio and leads a program called FitToRun with the aim of making people strong enough to do well in their sport and avoid injuries. In this conversation we talked about what can be done to avoid injuries, what can be done once injured and what protocols need to be followed to safely return to sport. As a runner who got injured training for his first marathon and became a cyclist, I make fun of runners and their injuries. But, injuries are part and parcel of all sports including cycling. How do you avoid injuries, how do you take care of them once you get injured and how you safely get back to the sport you love is something we all need to understand. That is why it was really fascinating to hear what all goes into prehab, rehab and return to sport from someone who is an expert in the field. I hope you find this conversation as useful as I did.
