As promised I am shifting from gynecological issues and will start to discuss obstetrical issues.  The first and very important issue is of course preconception counseling.  A very thorough look at the different things that need to be addressed by a patient and her OB provider prior to her conceiving.  These include optimizing any medical disorders, changing or discontinuing certain medications, along with determining her immunity to certain types of diseases.
