This week in Episode 3 of Chewing the plot we take a look at 2001 film Spirited away written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki. We look at why Miyazki make the film to begin with. Explore why it was the success that it was and how it retained the title of best selling film for so long in Japan as well as getting into the grit of the story, the art and meaning of the tale.
Spirited away is a Japanese Animated feature film following the story of Chihiro as she becomes separated from her parents in a fantasy world with lots of symbolism and parallel running narratives it's a meaty plot and picture so join us as we try to understand it and chew through this eponymous story.
