Has It Aged Well ?

IVM Podcasts

Don’t you just love it when you rewatch a film from your youth and want to know everything about it? Like what the themes and symbolism were, the social backdrop and conditions it was made against, and there’s nothing quite like realizing a film has aged like fine wine. On the other hand you may also find that your favourite movie characters were stalkers who didn't deserve love but some jail time, the hairstyle you copied was extremely cheesy, and the moral lessons to take away from those films were a tad bit problematic. So join comedians Abbas Momin & Urjita Wani as they dissect an old movie on every episode along with a bevy of guests and try to answer the question ‘Has It Aged Well’? Phir Hera Pheri ft. Sahil Shah (Ep. 100!)
For the 100th episode of 'Has It Aged Well?' Abbas and Urjita are joined by comedian Sahil Shah to talk about one of the most successful comedy sequels made in Hindi cinema: 'Phir Hera Pheri' directed by Neeraj Vohra starring Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal, Suniel Shetty, Bipasha Basu, Johnny Lever, Raima Sen, Rajpal Yadav, Sharat Saxena, Ravi Kishan, Suresh Menon and the who's who of comedians. Topics discussed include: Why Sahil loves the sequel more than the OG Hera Pheri, the tremendous influence of this film on the Indian meme culture, some characters which *may* come across as culturally insensitive but can we still laugh at them?, Lord Himesh's banging soundtrack, and stick around for a hilarious pun laden slip of tongue by Urjita and Sahil's love for the cult B-movie 'Gunda'.  Follow Sahil Shah here: https://www.instagram.com/sahilbullaWatch episodes of 'Binge O' Clock' on Sahil's Youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@SahilShahcomedyUrjita is touring with her solo show across India, catch her in your city: https://in.bookmyshow.com/events/urjita-wani-live/ET00395374Follow Abbas here: https://www.instagram.com/abbasmomin88/Follow Urjita here: https://www.instagram.com/urjitawani/Get access to ‘Has It Aged Well?’ audio episodes one week early on Amazon Music, Subscribe to the feed: https://music.amazon.in/podcasts/24d527b5-0544-4bd6-a7ff-073fa72d846a/has-it-aged-wellSubscribe to IVM Pop’s Youtube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/@IVMPopFollow IVM Pop on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/ivmpop/

Raaz ft. Kautuk Srivastava
This week one of our most requested guests, Kautuk Srivastava finally makes it to the show! The film Abbas and Urjita are discussing with Kautuk is the 2002 horror blockbuster 'Raaz' directed by Vikram Bhatt starring Bipasha Basu, Dino Morea, Ashutosh Rana and Malini Sharma. Topics discussed include: Kautuk's fascination with the horror genre, how this film cleverly "indianized" a starry Hollywood film, how Raaz walks the line between schlocky horror and A-list drama, the iconic Nadeem-Sravan soundtrack, Urjita's particular nitpick about a scene involving cables and a lot more. Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak ft. Imran Khan
This week on 'Has It Aged Well?' we are discussing one of the most iconic romantic films of the 80s 'Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak' starring Aamir Khan and Juhi Chawla and directed by Mansoor Khan. To talk about the film with Abbas and Urjita we have the honour and privilege to have Imran Khan (yes, the same Imran of 'Jaane Tu..', 'Break Ke Baad' and #LautAaoImran fame) as a guest! Topics discussed include: Imran's memories of being on set, growing up in the Nasir Hussain household, Imran's "debut" performance in QSQT, Aamir Khan and Juhi being introduced to the world, the strong supporting cast,  a broader conversation on the intent and craft of films, a slight detour on Imran's film 'Kidnap' (how could we not?), and do not miss Imran pointing out a massive blunder Abbas did on the 'Ekk Main Aur Ekk Tu' episode of HIAW. Mr. & Mrs. '55 ft. Nasreen Munni Kabir
This week on 'Has It Aged Well?' we finally discuss our first Guru Dutt film. It's the romantic comedy 'Mr. & Mrs. '55' directed by Guru Dutt and written by Abrar Alvi. Joining Abbas for this episode is perhaps the most prolific chronicler of Hindi cinema - writer, film historian and documentary filmmaker Nasreen Munni Kabir. Topics discussed include Guru Dutt and his coterie of frequent collaborators Abrar Alvi, Johnny Walker etc., The difficult and confused gender politics of the film, Madhubala's run as the vivacious leading lady in the 50's, how the 'commerce vs. art' debate was seen by the filmmakers of the 50s, why Guru Dutt's 'tragic' films are more celebrated than a light hearted one like Mr. & Mrs. 55 and a lot more. Abbas is alone in the host's chair this week as Urjita is touring with her solo show across India.
