Most older teachers learned explicit and direct instruction (EDI) during teacher training in the 70’s and 80’s. However, many younger teachers have never heard of it. As policymakers grapple with the knowledge decline in Australia’s youth, it’s groundhog day for EDI in the ‘lucky’ country.
