Cheryl Peña was born to multiracial parents in San Antonio, Texas. She graduated with honors with a degree in photography from the University of Texas at San Antonio. Her first novella was published at age 50, a suspense thriller titled The House of Wynne Lift. She has since switched to writing science fiction.
