Ep.36 How to improve your Sleep Quality w/ Derek Lacey
Join me in this episode where I interview Derek Lacey on how to improve your sleep quality through inner child work.Inner child work can profoundly influence your sleep quality by addressing the root causes of stress, anxiety, and emotional instability that often stem from childhood experiences. By healing and nurturing your inner child, you create a foundation of emotional well-being, safety, and self-compassion that promotes restful and rejuvenating sleep.Inner child work involves exploring and healing past childhood experiences, traumas, and emotions that may still be impacting your adult life. By addressing unresolved issues from your formative years, you can release negative patterns and cultivate a healthier, more integrated self. The Connection Between Inner Child Work and Sleep QualityReducing Stress and AnxietyUnresolved Trauma: Childhood traumas can manifest as chronic stress and anxiety in adulthood. These unresolved issues can cause a hyperactive stress response, making it difficult to relax and fall asleep.Healing Process: By engaging in inner child work, you can address and heal these traumas, reducing overall stress and anxiety levels, leading to improved relaxation and better sleep quality.Enhancing Emotional RegulationEmotional Turmoil: Unprocessed childhood emotions can lead to emotional instability, affecting your ability to manage stress and maintain calmness, which are crucial for good sleep.Emotional Healing: Inner child work helps you acknowledge and process these emotions, enhancing your emotional regulation. This improved emotional balance can lead to a more restful and uninterrupted sleep.Releasing Negative BeliefsLimiting Beliefs: Childhood experiences often shape our beliefs about ourselves and the world. Negative beliefs and self-perceptions can contribute to feelings of unworthiness, leading to anxiety and sleep disturbances.Positive Reframing: By identifying and reframing these negative beliefs through inner child work, you can cultivate a more positive self-image and reduce nighttime rumination, promoting better sleep.Creating a Sense of SafetySense of Insecurity: Traumatic childhood experiences can leave you feeling unsafe and hyper-vigilant, which can persist into adulthood, affecting your ability to relax and sleep soundly.Inner Nurturing: Inner child work involves nurturing and reassuring your inner child, creating a sense of safety and security. This sense of inner safety can significantly improve your ability to relax and achieve deep sleep.Improving Self-CompassionSelf-Criticism: Childhood criticism and negative experiences can lead to a harsh inner critic, perpetuating stress and negative self-talk that disrupt sleep.Self-Compassion Practice: Inner child work fosters self-compassion, helping you to replace self-criticism with kindness and understanding. This positive self-relationship reduces stress and enhances sleep quality.Resolving Nightmares and Sleep DisordersRecurrent Nightmares: Unresolved childhood trauma can cause recurrent nightmares and sleep disorders, as the subconscious mind tries to process these experiences during sleep.Therapeutic Resolution: Through inner child work, you can address and resolve these traumas, potentially reducing the frequency and intensity of nightmares and improving overall sleep...

Ep.35 From Insomniac to Sleep Facilitator w/ Derek Lacey
Join me today in a conversation with Derek Lacey !Derek Lacey is a sleep facilitator and founder of the Art of Falling Asleep & 5 Step Method, a method of sleeping that aligns the mind, body and nervous system to create a deeper and more meaningful experience of sleep. After spending a lifetime fighting insomnia himself, Derek discovered his sleep when he became a health coach in 2015, learning the importance of daily habits and mindset changes, then applying these mindset changes to his own insomnia transformation. Since then, he has used his knowledge of sleep science and sleep psychology to help insomniacs use intuitive methods to repurpose their resistance to sleep into their own pharmacy of sleep chemicals. Derek’s mission is to create a movement that makes sleep meaningful again, help people access the spiritual gifts of sleep, and use this deeper connection with sleep to contribute to a more conscious planet. Find Derek's precious work here:https://www.dereklaceycoaching.com/https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-art-of-falling-asleep/id1522586525With much loveA.Support this super cool and informative, advertise free show  ‘Buy me a coffee’ and send some appreciation my wayClick link below:  https://www.buymeacoffee.com/auroraborealisThank you !!!!I’m very excited to guide you closer to your real, authentic self. My vision is to support your growth. This is a place where you can recharge your batteries, reconnect to yourself, really get to know yourself and find out what steps you can take to untangleyourself from a situation you don’t wish to be in. Ep.33 Overcoming a closed mind - part #2 w/ RICK YANCO
Hello there Join us today as Rick and I meet in the Yurt by a cozy fire and discuss the conflict we observe between generations at the workplace. The conflict between baby boomers and Gen Z regarding work ethic and work-life balance often stems from differing generational perspectives and experiences. Baby boomers typically value traditional work ethics, such as loyalty to a single employer and long hours, while Gen Z tends to prioritize flexibility, work-life balance, and purpose-driven work. Rick and I strongly believe that bridging this gap requires open communication, mutual respect, and understanding of each other's perspectives. Employers can also adapt policies and practices to accommodate the evolving needs and preferences of different generations in the workforce. Enjoy this open and honest conversation and maybe feel inspired to reflect about how you can contribute to a more peaceful and efficient work environment. With much loveA.Support this super cool and informative, advertise free show  ‘Buy me a coffee’ and send some appreciation my wayClick link below:  https://www.buymeacoffee.com/auroraborealisThank you !!!!I’m very excited to guide you closer to your real, authentic self. My vision is to support your growth. This is a place where you can recharge your batteries, reconnect to yourself, really get to know yourself and find out what steps you can take to untangleyourself from a situation you don’t wish to be in. Ep.31 Self-Abandonment and how New Year's resolutions are a waste of time if you don't like yourself [self awareness]
Self- Abandonment is a tricky topic.Welcome to another insightful episode of The Borealis Experience Podcast, where we delve into the complexities of personal development and self-discovery.In today's episode, we're exploring the profound connection between self-abandonment, self-love, and the often-misunderstood world of New Year's resolutions. What does it mean to neglect or reject ourselves emotionally and why is it so prevalent? As the new year dawns, many of us embark on the well-intentioned journey of setting resolutions. However, we explore the argument that New Year's resolutions may be a futile endeavor if the foundation of self-love is absent. Our conversation delves into the psychology behind resolutions and why, without a strong self-affirming base, they might not stand the test of time.Remember, the path to self-discovery is ongoing, and your commitment to loving yourself is the most transformative resolution of all. Ep.29 Your mind can be your worst enemy [self-awareness]

Ep.29 Your mind can be your worst enemy [self-awareness]
Our thoughts, emotions, and mental processes can sometimes work against us and lead to self-doubt, anxiety, or negative self-perception. It reflects the importance of mental health and the role our thought patterns and attitudes play in our well-being. Here are a few reasons why this statement holds true:Overthinking: Excessive rumination and overthinking can lead to anxiety and stress. We often create problems or scenarios in our minds that may not even exist in reality.Negative Self-Talk: Negative self-talk, where we criticize or belittle ourselves, can erode self-esteem and confidence.Fear and Worry: Our minds can generate fear and excessive worry, often about future events that may never come to pass.Perfectionism: Striving for perfection in every aspect of life can lead to unrealistic expectations and self-criticism when we don't meet those expectations.Rumination on the Past: Repeatedly dwelling on past mistakes or regrets can prevent us from moving forward and finding happiness in the present.Comparison: Constantly comparing ourselves to others can lead to feelings of inadequacy and envy.Cognitive Biases: Our minds are susceptible to various cognitive biases, such as confirmation bias or negativity bias, which can distort our perception of reality.Recognizing that your mind can sometimes work against you is an important step in addressing these issues. It's essential to practice self-awareness and develop strategies to manage negative thought patterns and emotions. This may include mindfulness techniques, cognitive-behavioral therapy, seeking support from a therapist, and adopting a positive and self-compassionate mindset. Taking care of your mental health and seeking support when needed can help you transform your mind from an enemy into an ally in your life's journey. With much loveA.How the mind can create negative experiences. 0:02Aurora shares tips on how to overcome negative mindset and create a positive life experience.Managing negative thoughts and self-doubt. 2:52Mindset plays a crucial role in overcoming self-doubt and comparison in business.Self-worth and mindset. 5:53Speaker reflects on how past experiences shape present-day self-perception, leading to inaccurate comparisons with others.Self-awareness and negative thoughts. 9:02Speaker 1 emphasizes the importance of self-awareness in recognizing and managing negative thoughts and emotions.Speaker 1 encourages listeners to observe their thoughts without attaching to them and to question unhelpful comparisons and beliefs.Managing negative thoughts and emotions. 12:06Observe negative thoughts without believing them, detach and focus on the present moment.Transparency and vulnerability in sharing personal struggles can lead to deeper connections and self-awareness.Support this super cool and informative, advertise free show  ‘Buy me a coffee’ and send some appreciation my wayClick link below:

Canada's dark history, particularly in relation to its treatment of Indigenous peoples, is a painful and complex chapter that demands recognition, understanding, and reconciliation. Ep.27 Why some people cheat and lie in relationships [self-awareness,relationships]

Ep.27 Why some people cheat and lie in relationships [self-awareness,relationships]
When your emotional needs are unmet in a relationship, it can have significant emotional, psychological, and relational consequences. Here are some of the potential outcomes and effects:Emotional Distress: Unmet emotional needs can lead to feelings of sadness, frustration, anger, or loneliness. You may experience a general sense of dissatisfaction or emotional pain in the relationship.Resentment: Over time, unmet needs can breed resentment toward your partner. You may feel as though your needs are not being acknowledged or valued, which can erode trust and intimacy.Communication Breakdown: Unmet needs can lead to poor communication in the relationship. You may struggle to express your feelings and needs clearly, or your partner may become defensive or avoidant in response to your attempts at communication.Decreased Intimacy: Emotional intimacy often relies on the fulfillment of emotional needs. When these needs go unmet, emotional distance can develop, leading to decreased physical and emotional intimacy in the relationship.Conflict: Unresolved issues stemming from unmet needs can result in frequent arguments and conflict. These conflicts may be about the unmet needs themselves or manifest in other areas of the relationship.Mental Health Effects: Persistent emotional distress due to unmet needs can contribute to mental health issues such as anxiety and depression. The emotional toll can affect your overall well-being.Seeking Fulfillment Elsewhere: In some cases, individuals may seek to fulfill their unmet emotional needs outside the relationship, which can lead to infidelity or the desire to engage in activities or friendships that provide emotional support.Withdrawal: Some people may withdraw from the relationship as a coping mechanism. They may emotionally detach or become disengaged as a way to protect themselves from further emotional pain.Impact on Self-Esteem: Unmet emotional needs can negatively impact your self-esteem and self-worth. You may begin to question your value and desirability within the relationship.Relationship Dissatisfaction: Overall, the result of unmet emotional needs is often a sense of dissatisfaction with the relationship. If these needs remain unaddressed, it can ultimately lead to relationship deterioration or even dissolution. It's important to note that every relationship will have moments when emotional needs go unmet temporarily. However, it becomes concerning when this becomes a chronic pattern or when the unmet needs are significant and vital for your emotional well-being.Addressing unmet emotional needs typically involves open and honest communication with your partner. Sharing your feelings and needs in a constructive and non-confrontational manner is an essential first step. Couples therapy or counseling can also be beneficial in helping both partners understand and address these issues. Ultimately, working together to meet each other's emotional needs is crucial for maintaining a healthy and fulfilling relationship. With much loveA.I’m very excited to guide you closer to your real, authentic self. My vision is to support your growth. This is a place where you can recharge your batteries, reconnect to yourself, really get to know yourself and find out what steps you can take to untangleyourself from a situation you don’t wish to be in. Hello there lovelies,Negative and anxious thoughts are common experiences for human beings, and they can be challenging to manage at times. It's important to acknowledge that negative and anxious thoughts are a natural part of being human, and everyone experiences them from time to time. These thoughts can stem from various sources, such as past experiences, fears, uncertainties about the future, or even cognitive biases. If you find yourself caught in a cycle of negative and anxious thoughts, consider the following strategies to help manage them:Self-Awareness: Recognize when negative or anxious thoughts arise. Being aware of your thought patterns can help you identify triggers and potential sources of stress.Challenge Negative Thoughts: Once you become aware of negative thoughts, question their validity. Ask yourself if there is evidence to support or contradict those thoughts. Often, we can find that our worries are not as realistic as we initially believed.Reframe Thoughts: Reframe negative thoughts into more positive or neutral ones.
