Ep. 46: Immigration, Life Changes, and Personal Finances

MindBloomYou: Personal Finance for Survivors

20-04-2021 • 15 mins

Welcome to episode 46 of Mind Bloom, your podcast on all things mental health and breast cancer.

I'm your host, Marina Gee, and this week, I'm happy to be back to podcasting, after a 3-week sabatical.

A lot has happened in the past three weeks:
- My green card self-petition was approved;
- I moved out of NYC (temporarily) and am now exploring the south of the country -- Florida, the Carolinas next, then perhaps Atlanta, GA;
- As a result of seeing my green card approved, I now need to wait between 3-6 months to get a work authorization, without which I can't legally work in the country.

Tumultous and exciting times, for sure. A lot of you came out to my rescue in so many different ways: emotional support, financial help, a motivational pep talk.

As always, I am in awe of the power of friendship and community, and I thank you all from the bottom of my heart.

If you would like to help me stay afloat the next couple of months (I have been unable to work since May 2020, due to my immigration status), please consider contributing to my Green Card Relief Fund on GoFundMe: https://www.gofundme.com/f/greencardfund
