This time we have an updated version of the Cinderella story. This one is provided to us by Angela Carter with her posthumously published "Ashputtle or The Mother's Ghost. Three Versions of One Story" from 1987. In this version, our narrator ironically questions the assumptions of the fairy tale, and proposes alternate variations, pointing out inconsistencies and breaking down stereotypes, all in order to construct new versions for us that still reside within the tradition.
