‘Agnipath’ a new scheme aimed at recruiting the youth of the nation to serve in the military rose an uncalled tiff between the Government of the nation and its youth.

The planned scheme aims on recruiting the youth who is 21 years which would turn the average age of individuals in the military to 27 from 32 years existing today.

The Former Chief of Army Gen. Bipin Rawat once said, “People come to me asking to facilitate them the employment in Indian military but I saw one has to be physically and mentally fit to serve in the military and should be ready to face struggles. It is rather a service than employment.” The turn of the event is so that the reason behind opening up the scheme is to facilitate employment. On other hand, unfortunately, the youth of the nation chose violence in expressing dissent against the scheme.

By the rage, anger and violence the aspirants have set the notion of incapability to serve in the field which seeks discipline, patience and hard work. When authorities in the field have disagreements analysing India’s strategic relation and military potential because of such recruitments there also arose questions on the future of the 75 per cent of youth who come out post their contractual period. The social condition which India may face possessing arm-trained civilians too creates no less fear in analysing the country’s future.

Indeed Article 19(1)(g) of the Constitution bestows the right to practice any profession but at times when the youth of the nation are undergoing unemployment along with employability issues, such schemes might majorly be chosen by the youth as a need rather with the service motto. And therefore, let the potential be utilised, the Country be flourished and citizens be protected.
