Digital Payments: Making Lives Easy or A Fraudster's Paradise?
Digital payments have made lives easy, right? Even the transactions rose from 10.2 billion in 2017 to 87.3 billion in 2022. But, this has also led to an increase in fraud. According to a report by the Reserve Bank of India, digital payments fraud amounted to ₹82.76 crore in 2021-22, up from ₹55.28 crore in the previous year. And phishing accounted for 40% of all the reported cases. Recently, Safexpay, a Thane-based payment gateway was in the news for losing around ₹25 crore to fraud attacks. So, are digital payments really making lives easy? Listen to Host Anupriya Nair on the latest episode of The Morning Brief podcast as she along with ET's fintech expert Pratik Bhakta gets into a conversation with Rahul Jain, CFO at NTT DATA Payment Services, and Bharat Panchal, Chief Regulatory Officer at Discover Financial Services. Mamaearth IPO - Litmus Test for Startups and the Street

Mamaearth IPO - Litmus Test for Startups and the Street
Mamaearth's parent company Honasa Consumers is finally hitting Dalal Street with a ₹1700 crore IPO. The company will raise ₹365 crore in fresh issue and the rest will be an offer for sale. What's surprising is that the company is seeking a valuation of over ₹10,000 crore - nearly 60% lower than the ₹24,000 crore figure that had gone viral on social media earlier in January. Why so? Why is the company going for a stock market listing now? While it sells products that compete with HUL, why are its financials more similar to Nykaa? Has its topline growth come at the cost of a healthy bottom line? And what can investors expect going ahead? To seek answers to these and many more questions, Host Kiran Somavnshi speaks to Mamaearth’s Chairman & CEO Varun Alagh, and CFO Ramanpreet Sohi in the latest episode of The Morning Brief podcast. While the drug’s innovator Novo Nordisk launched its oral version in India last year, Dr. Reddys Laboratories has now got approval to carry out bioequivalence studies of injectable semaglutide. So, what does this mean for India that has a huge disease burden of diabetes and obesity? Is the hype around the drug all worth it? Are there any side effects? Is it affordable? And who should be taking it? Host Kiran Somvanshi tries to understand from Dr. Ambrish Mithal, Chairman & Head - Endocrinology & Diabetes - Max Healthcare, and Nithya Balasubramanian, Director - AB Bernstein.
