Every romantic movie I’d ever seen: uber romantic wedding proposals where the man drops on one knee and declares his undying love.

My own wedding proposal on the other hand, was far less romantic (I don’t remember the movie proposals featuring empty take out boxes and shrugging shoulders…)

It’s not strange that I was a bit confused by my own wedding proposal. Afterall, most of what I’d learned about love and marriage came from movies.

The biggest decisions in life are oddly cloaked in obscurity, because we rarely talk about what it’s really like to make big decisions. But they don’t have to be!

In this 5 min episode, I share a letter that I wrote to my mailing list about proposals and expectations and that, after 14 years together and married for 6, I’ve learned that the uber romantic declarations of love often happen in the little mundane moments in life.
