Join Audrey & Baggie as they hear from Rachel Fayne, Co-ordinator of the DAVINA Project (Domestic Abuse Violence Is Never Acceptable). The DAVINA Project is part of SAOL. SAOL is an integrated programme of education, rehabilitation, advocacy and childcare in North Inner City Dublin. The SAOL Project’s on-going commitment to the women, children and community members continues to develop, responding to the changing needs of the women who participate in our project with creativity and commitment.
Rachel takes us on her journey into social care, following her passion to help the most marginalised in society, leading her to the DAVINA project. She gives good insights into what makes women who are affected by abuse and domestic violence so vulnerable and outlines what her project is doing to help. She also give a great insight into her own version of self-care which sustains her in her work.
This episode has been released during the United Nations 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, an annual international campaign that kicks off on 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and runs until 10 December, Human Rights Day.
