In August 2021, Kabul, Afghanistan fell to the Taliban. The American military made a quick and chaotic exit and thousands of Afghans who supported them were also forced to leave with little preparation. Around 80,000 arrived in the U.S. between 2021 and 2022. Resettlement agencies in Northern Virginia were overwhelmed. In part 1 of my interview with Dan Altman and Natalie Perdue, they talk about how they started a diverse grassroots network called NoVA RAFT to help the incoming refugees.
