What we like & don’t like about being Black/Immigrants in America

Life As We See It with A and A

On this episode, we discussed our likes & dislikes about being black and an African immigrant in America. We thought it was a great time to talk about our experiences as immigrants in America since February is black history month. We reflect on our rich Nigerian culture and heritage, our music, parties, clothes, food (suya, jollof rice, etc), and everything that makes us unique. We talked about the perseverance African Americans despite the history of oppression they have had to endure. Amaka highlighted the need for everyone (especially people in law enforcement) to adopt "cultural humility" which is knowing how to handle/deal with people of different cultural backgrounds in tense situations. We discussed how we love our "melanin-rich" dark skin and how proud we are to be multi-lingual compared to the average American who only speaks one language "English". We basically just had fun on this episode talking about our blackness, Nigerian-ness and everything in between. Hope you enjoyed this episode. Please support us and Subscribe, Like Comment and Share.
