The F/A-18E/F has been the primary, multirole aircraft of the US Navy operating from the carrier decks (since the retirement of the F-14 Tomcat in 2006); being the backbone of the Navy's Carrier Air Wing. It has been the successor (albeit with a much lower Mach 1.6 top speed) to the venerable and peerless F-14 Tomcats on the Navy's supercarriers with the aircraft having proven itself thoroughly since entering service at the turn of the century and with Boeing continuously upgrading the platform since inheriting it from McDonnell Douglas. This is the story of the Super Hornets covering the program and platform from genesis to capabilities and from the deck to the air. Also, included are Stories from the Deck, a miniseries created by Boeing on the Super Hornets, getting the take from the Navy pilots and maintenance crews on the bird's capabilities. All rights on the audio clips for the episodes on the F/A-18E/F Super reserved fully with Boeing.
