"What's your favorite scary movie?" And thus, a genre was saved. Scream quietly debuted in theaters December 1996 and by word of mouth made over 10 times what it cost. It simultaneously reinvented the slasher while also paying homage and staying true to its roots. It's no surprise it spawned a two decade plus franchise including a soon to be released fifth installment. Shaun and Sergio dip back into the late 90s when things started to get meta.
