Despite the frequency of miscarriage and pregnancy loss, we have yet to approach the conversation as a culture from a place of understanding and empathy. After Frieda Hoffman’s second miscarriage, she felt alone, emotionally overwhelmed, and unheard. She created the resource she wished she had at that time: real stories about real women going through what she had, but without the lens of academia or religion to devalue people’s valid emotional responses. Her book, “Carry Me: Stories of Pregnancy Loss,” details the complexity of fertility, miscarriage, and loss. We talk through it all—the grief, the laws surrounding it, and the importance of normalizing these conversations.
