Many teachers complain about the first day of school for teachers (commonly called an inservice or professional development). Yes, their summer break is over, but the experience is like going to the dentist for a root canal. You want to be anywhere else but there. There are administrators are more focused on the public relations and press releases that come out of that day rather than if it is actually beneficial to their staff. Often, outside speakers are more about the fee they receive than providing what the teachers in their audience actually need.
