The Yuba County 5 refers to a group of five young men who went missing in February 1978, sparking a mysterious and enduring mystery. These men, Jack Madruga, Ted Weiher, Jack Huett, Bill Sterling, and Gary Mathias, set out on a basketball-watching trip but never returned. Their disappearance led to an extensive search and captured public attention due to its puzzling nature.
The men were last seen alive at a convenience store in Yuba City, California. Their car was later discovered abandoned in a remote and snow-covered area of the Sierra Nevada mountains. Despite intensive search efforts, it wasn't until months later that the first traces of their fate emerged. Some of their belongings, scattered in an old trailer, and then their remains were found in the wilderness. The circumstances of their deaths raised numerous unanswered questions.
