The Social Care Podcast - Sharing Stories

26-06-2023 • 46 mins

Join Audrey and Baggie as they chat with Charlotte Burke and Nuala Flynn about all things professional supervision. Gone are the days when the word 'Supervision' struck fear into the hearts of workers in social care. Charlotte and Nuala are here to tell us about the benefits to everyone and why we would all be mad not to engage in supervision.

Charlotte Burke is the Continuing Professional Development Coordinator with Social Care Ireland for the past five years. As part of her role, she organises CPD events and supports social care workers to get ready for registration with CORU. Previous to this she worked in the Disability sector for twenty years as a social care worker and leader.

Nuala Flynn is the Supervision Lead with the National Health and Social Care Professionals Office. She has worked in social care in both residential and a Child Protection and Welfare Social Work team prior to joining HSE HR as an Employee Development Officer. As a champion of supervision, Nuala has developed, delivered and evaluated programmes regionally within HSE Leadership, Education and Talent Development and now nationally within the HSE National HSCP Office. She believes supervision supports placing the service user at the centre in professional practice. She is currently renewing her ACC coaching credential, is a member of CIPD; has a BSc. of Science (Applied Social Studies) and in HR along with a Professional Diploma in Education.
