S09|17 - Raising Body-Confident Kids: Shame-Free Feeding & Body Image Tips with Nicole Cruz, RD
On this podcast, we love to talk about shame-free everything… It’s easy to see how our parenting can trend toward shame, and I hope listening in has helped that change in little (or big) ways. If you grew up in a home where your body and food choices were a main focus and commented on often, you may wonder how to raise your child differently. Ditch the food and body shame in this episode with Nicole Cruz, RD, and me. Join our Shame Resiliency Seminar HEREGet started on this work through a daily mindset practice- Journal HEREJoin the next round of The Shame-Free Parenting Movement: HEREListen to the bonus episodes on the podcast: www.coachcrystal.ca/blogConnect with Nicole: HEREWebsite HEREIn today’s episode: What words around food, eating, and bodies create shame in our childrenHow we were raised affects how we interact with our food, and feeding ours kidsHow to teach kids to listen to their bodies How to manage things like allergies or food intolerances in a shame-free and fear-free wayHow kids are naturally intuitive when it comes to eating and foodAbout Nicole: Nicole Cruz founded Nourish Together, a shame-free approach to family nutrition that instills food and body trust. As a Registered Dietitian and mom of three, she combines her personal and professional experience to help parents raise confident eaters who can enjoy a variety of foods, listen to their body cues, and avoid obsessing over sweets or other ‘treats’. She believes that a healthy relationship with food is the foundation for lifelong ‘healthy’ eating — and when we nourish together, we bring more joy and less stress to the table!

When we’re triggered by our kids and trying to keep our cool… more is going on in our unconscious mind than what we are aware of. When we have the tools to work through what’s going on under the surface, we can more easily show up as the shame-free parents that we want to be (and wish we had). Connect with Melissa: IG HERE, Website HEREJoin our Shame Resiliency Seminar HEREGet started on this work through a daily mindset practice- Journal HEREJoin the next round of The Shame-Free Parenting Movement: HEREListen to the bonus episodes on the podcast: www.coachcrystal.ca/blogIn today’s episode: What’s really triggering us (so much more than just words)Hypnosis tips for parents (to use on ourselves in the midst of heavy times)Calming the nervous system within, so we can help our children calm theirsHow those around us live up to what we expect from them (and how shifting that can change them too)Melissa Tiers is a multi-award-winning author, lecturer, keynote speaker and hypnosis trainer.
