Kinnard currently serves as president and chief executive officer of Kinnard & Associates a marketing communications company with an emphasis on diversity and inclusion. She founded the company in 1997 and recently celebrated a milestone of 25 years in entrepreneurship. Her success with the company also includes The African American Guide To Nashville and CULTURE Magazines, both the first of their kind in the city, established to help diversity voids in corporate and tourism. In addition, she is founder of the Dorothy Marie Kinnard Foundation, established in 2012 to raise awareness on the escalating rise of diabetes particularly among African Americans.  The 1990 Tennessee State University graduate has worked with a plethora of Fortune 100 companies, developing and overseeing programs to help level the playing field for minority and women-owned businesses.  In addition to running her for profit company for the last 25 years, her work beyond the walls of corporate America has involved sitting on numerous boards. ReConnect Nashville was a transformative 3 hour workshop held at Vu Studio in Nashville in September 2023. The mission of the workshop was to explore the phenomenon of smartphone addiction, differentiate the use of technology as a tool vs. distraction, and learn the magic of life-technology balance.
