"My intention was to point out that a famously family-friendly comedy had the same traits as any good horror film and that with just a slight tonal shift, a change in perspective and perhaps a twist on motivation, it could very well be a horror film.
That was my intent.
Instead, and I think for the better, I ended up with a personal voyage of fear, anxiety, and self-exploration through the lense of a great American film. Looking at a touchstone of American family cinema through the experiences of being an adult and how time has changed what a story once said to me, meant to me, represented for me."
