Nostradamus believed that he could predict the future and published his predictions in The Prophecies.  He studied medicine and became a physician, treating plague victims throughout France and Italy. At the age of 14, Nostradame entered the University of Avignon to study medicine. He was forced to leave after only one year, due to an outbreak of the bubonic plague. According to his own account, he traveled throughout the countryside during this time, researching herbal remedies and working as an apothecary.It’s believed he had a psychic awakening. He began to practice the occult and make predictions of the future. Nostradamus claimed to base his published predictions on judicial astrology—the art of forecasting future events by calculation of the planets and stellar bodies in relationship to the earth.Nostradamus was not only a diviner, but a professional healer.

Most of the quatrains (a stanza of four lines, especially one having alternate rhymes) Nostradamus composed during his life dealt with disasters such as plagues, earthquakes, wars, floods, invasions murders, droughts, and battles. Nostradamus enthusiasts have credited him with predicting numerous events in world history including the French Revolution; the rise of Napoleon and Hitler; the development of the atomic bomb; and the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center.

On the evening of July 1, 1566,  he is alleged to have told his secretary, "You will not fine me alive at sunrise." The next morning he was reportedly found dead lying on the floor next to his bed.

Nostradamus’ most debatable prediction is the military invasion of Europe by an Islamic alliance of nations in the early 21st century. Iran and Turkey are mentioned most often, along with many other Muslim nations that unite to invade Southern and Western Europe. The United States is initially unable to help. Nostradamus repeatedly tells us that the war between Islam and Christianity progresses slowly into a world war lasting about 27 years in total. It ends no later than 2029, but could go nuclear much sooner. At least four cities will be nuked, including New York and Rome. Nostradamus did not see up to the year 3797. He knew the world as we know it ends in the early 21st century, just after the war between Islam and Christianity ends. He repeatedly describes an Islamic Antichrist, including a catastrophic pole shift that alters the surface of the Earth.
