At this point in the investigation and trial process, we are calling him the alleged Crescent Moon Killer until jurisprudence has run its course. To date, Reed has allegedly killed 7 innocent victims who were simply unlucky enough to cross his path. Gerald and Charlene Gallego made for terrifying partners in crime. An attractive brunette, Charlene Gallego had no trouble luring innocent youths into her car with the promise of work or marijuana. An unquenchable serial killer, Gerald Gallego would later rape and murder them at remote locations instead. The serial killer couple terrorized the city of Sacramento for two long years before carelessness got them caught. Their California killing spree from 1978 to 1980 left nine women raped before being bludgeoned or shot to death, and one man killed outright. Disturbingly, most of the victims were teens. Angel Leoncio Recendiz aka The Railroad Killer who, throughout the 90s, brutally and I mean brutally raped and murdered 16 people but is suspected of killing as many as 23 or more. He was known as The Railroad Killer because of his penchant for riding the rails around the United States choosing his victims simply based on how close to the railroad tracks their homes were. For almost 13 years he traveled the country choosing victims at random raping, murdering, and then robbing innocent men and women before either jumping back on the train or stealing their vehicle and dumping it in San Antonio Texas before sneaking back across the border into Mexico until his next murderous expedition into the US. After a short stint on the FBI’s 10 Most Wanted list, Resendiz turned himself in to Texas authorities before being convicted of murder and sentenced to death. In 2006, Resendiz paid his debt to society with his life by lethal injection in the Huntsville Unit in Huntsville Texas. This week we’ll be hopping a ride in The Murder Mobile with William Devin Howell, AKA The Sick Ripper, and following his trail of bodies that ended in a wooded area behind a local dollar store. Unlike other serial killers, Howell had a ritual of, after raping his victims for hours, taking them nude and tied in the back of his van through the McDonald’s drive-thru for what he called “Their last meal” before taking them to a remote area, allowing them to eat, continually raping and then strangling them to death. He was already in prison serving time for murder when he admitted killing six others to his cellmate and saying that he had slept next to the body of one of his victims in his van he dubbed The Murder Mobile for two weeks. It was this same cellmate who took what Howell told him to the DA’s office and worked out a deal to testify against Howell resulting in The Sick Ripper finally being brought to justice, sentenced to six life sentences which, in Connecticut, equals 360 years. Support the show (https://www.patreon.com/TASKG) In this week's episode, we’re investigating the life and crimes of Gary Ridgway, also known as The Green River Killer who raped, strangled, and murdered at least 49 teenage girls and women. He was convicted of those 49 murders receiving 48 consecutive life sentences making him the second most prolific serial killer in US history, second only to Samuel Little who we covered in our last episode so make sure to check it out. He received his name after the first five victims were found along the banks of the Green River in Washington state. Ridgway was fond of returning to where he dumped his victims and having sex with their corpses but told investigators he would draw the line if they were too rotten or had maggots on them. Ridgway claims to have killed over 70 victims before finally being stopped and some are still being identified to this day. For more than 30 years, serial killer Samuel Little went undetected as he terrorized women across the country, claiming upwards of 93 victims. Although he was not convicted of murder until 2014, Little was no stranger to law enforcement. In a crime spree that began in the 1950s, he was arrested more than 100 times on charges including kidnapping, rape, robbery, and assault. Despite these charges, Little spent fewer than 10 years in prison. The serial killer preyed on vulnerable women such as sex workers and drug addicts living in high-crime areas, usually beating or knocking them unconscious before strangling them to death. In some instances, Little raped his victims, telling police he received sexual gratification from the murders. His crimes finally caught up to him in 2012, when he was charged with three Los Angeles murders stemming back to the 1980s. Little was later convicted and sentenced to life in prison. While he maintained his innocence at trial, Little ultimately confessed to investigators and cataloged his numerous murders, providing key details and even sketches of his unidentified victims. Little has been convicted of eight murders in California, Ohio, and Texas. Some of the killings have been matched to Jane Doe cases going back to 1972, and FBI analysts believe his 93 confessions are credible. She was adopted at the age of four by her grandparents, sleeping with neighborhood boys for cigarettes, and spare change by age 11, pregnant by her grandfather's friend by 13, and homeless, turning tricks by age 15. A hard life and never finding a place to fit in led Aileen to a transient lifestyle that took her across the country selling herself to make ends meet. After meeting the love of her life in 1986 she tried working odd jobs to go straight but in 1989, broke and with her fiancee threatening to leave if things didn't immediately improve, Aileen decided it was easier to rob and kill to get what she needed to survive. After 6 murders of men across Florida highways, she was caught and tricked into confessing by the person she loved the most. After years of claiming self-defense, Aileen was executed by lethal injection on October 9, 2002, at Florida State Prison in Raiford Florida. Joseph James DeAngelo Jr. (born November 8, 1945) is an American serial killer, serial rapist, burglar, and a former police officer who committed at least 13 murders, 50 rapes, and 120 burglaries across California between 1974 and 1986. DeAngelo was responsible for at least three crime sprees throughout California, each of which spawned a different nickname in the press before it became evident that they were committed by the same person. In the San Joaquin Valley, he was known as the Visalia Ransacker before moving to the Sacramento area, where he became known as the East Area Rapist and was linked by modus operandi to additional attacks in Contra Costa County, Stockton, and Modesto.    DeAngelo committed serial murders in Santa Barbara, Ventura, and Orange counties, where he was known as the Night Stalker and later the Original Night Stalker (owing to serial killer Richard Ramirez also being called the "Night Stalker"). DeAngelo is believed to have taunted and threatened both victims and police in obscene phone calls and possibly written communications. True-crime writer, the late Michelle McNamara, is credited with coining the name The Golden State killer in her book I'll Be Gone in the Dark: One Woman's Obsessive Search for the Golden State Killer. In a series of killings committed between 1982 and 1984 in the Midwest, Larry Eyler is believed to have murdered at least twenty-one teenage boys and young men. Having been sentenced to death by lethal injection for the 1984 kidnapping and murder of 16-year-old Daniel Bridges, Eyler later voluntarily confessed to the 1982 murder of 23-year-old Steven Agan in return for the state of Illinois to commute his death sentence to one of life imprisonment without parole.
