Lots of activity in horse racing this week as I break it all down on this episode of The Win Place Show podcast. We start in Mississippi where the statehouse has introduced a bill (HB 588) that would create a state racing commission. In horse racing news, the Louisiana State Racing Commission will meet soon to determine whether they will opt out of the HISA Lasix ban. Over the weekend, the 2021 Eclipse Awards Finalist were announced. In horse news, it’s foal season and aside from being bombarded with adorable pictures of baby foals on your social media timeline, we did see the first foals of two prominent horses over the weekend. Plus the latest jockeying news coming out of New Zealand where the racing commission is reviewing their whip rules due to an increase in recent suspensions associated with the “consecutive strides” rule where you cannot use a crop on a horse on consecutive strides even if those are the only two times in the race you use the crop. Listen for more horse racing news on today's episode of The Win Place Show.
