Our guests today are two of Ireland's most famous singing stars. They found fame on the X-Factor, then went on to have four hit albums and very successfully represented Ireland twice at the Eurovision Song Contest. Anything can happen because here come Jedward !!!The boys joined us the whole way from America via zoom to sit down with our ‘ECollective’ members to discuss their concerns, tips and potential strategies for stopping climate change. In this episode, you’ll find out what the boys have begun implementing to help make life greener, the differences between how climate change is viewed in America versus Ireland and who they consider to be their ‘greenest’ celeb pals. JEDWARD:John & Edward are an Irish male pop vocal duo consisting of twin brothers John and Edward Grimes. They participated in Series 6 of The X Factor UK as part of the Groups category mentored by Louis Walsh.They have released several singles, including "Under Pressure (Ice Ice Baby)", "Bad Behaviour", "Lipstick", with which they represented Ireland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 in Düsseldorf, and "Waterline", with which they represented Ireland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 in Baku.Jedward are also known for their television work, including starring in the documentary series Jedward: Let Loose, presenting the children's series OMG! Is turning your lights off or holding off on that second round of hot water for another cuppa enough to help combat our ever-growing climate problems?Our ECollective team from Foiroige caught up with Codema CEO Donna Gartland who answers your most frequent everyday questions regarding energy and climate change. In this episode, you’ll find out:The importance of education when it comes to combating climate changeWhat changes we need to see within the next five years and the repercussions of those not happeningEveryday changes you can begin to implementAbout Our Guest:Donna Gartland took up the position of Chief Executive Officer of Codema in April 2020 and has worked with the company since 2013.   She is a qualified electrician with a BEng in Energy and Environmental Engineering from the Institute of Technology Tallaght and a MSc in Sustainable Energy Planning and Management from Aalborg University, Denmark. She is currently completing a PhD in Energy Engineering with University College Cork. In her previous role as Codema’s Senior Energy Planner, Donna worked on monitoring and reporting the progress of the Sustainable Energy Action Plan for Dublin City in line with the Covenant of Mayors Initiative and developed the first Spatial Energy Demand Analyses (SEDA) in Ireland for all four Dublin local authorities in order to integrate energy and spatial planning at a local level.  Donna is also working on implementing the first District Heating systems in Dublin with Dublin City and South Dublin County Councils, and is Technical Advisor on the EU Interreg NWE project ‘HeatNet’.
