On Monday's show we talked about the Colorado Avalanche's knack to score not only the first goal in games, but they had a two-game streak of scoring the opening goal on their very first shot. On Monday, the streak was extended after VGK goalie Adin Hill turned the puck over and handed a goal to Mikko Rantanen just :14 into the game. That turned out to be the winning goal in a dominant performance by the Avs. The Golden Knights never recovered. Bruce Cassidy said he felt his VGK team got pushed around in the offensive zone and were pushed off pucks all night. Monday marked the debut of recent acquisition Ivan Barbashev. He started on the top line and replaced Paul Cotter. Earlier Monday, VGK announced goalie Laurent Brossoit is out with a lower body injury and is listed as day-to-day. The goalie situation has to concern Cassidy and VGK. Does Kelly McCrimmon pull the trigger on a trade for Cam Talbot? Logan Thompson's return could still be a couple of days away.
