A true believer in listening to one’s passion, Patrick began writing in early 2020 based on several trips he made while cycling in various countries. In his debut award-winning novel, “Sunrise in Saigon,” Patrick draws upon several non-fictional events in Vietnam, including the war with the US, the last days of Saigon falling, and the chaos at the US embassy. Patrick’s follow-up novel, “The Shores of Okinawa,” continues the Jack Kendall series with even more intrigue and suspense! Coast Guard search and rescue, and a law enforcement professional. The veteran mariner, aviator, college professor, and defense analyst has recently added “novelist” to his list of experiences. Drawing from his twenty-five years of active service, he has crafted an exciting contemporary sea adventure series featuring the crew of a small Coast Guard cutter snatched from the hurly-burly of high-tempo operations in South Florida and thrust into the shadowy world of sensitive special missions. Each of his four novels (so far) immerses the reader into the exciting world of Coast Guard operations, experiencing the fear, elation, humor, and sadness in the character-driven stories alongside the crew of the patrol boat Kauai. A husband and father of two sons, Ed enjoys reading, police procedurals, contemporary music on the road, and classical music in the office.
