Ep 234 The BIG Ugly (Discover your Enneagram Type) ft. Jared Haley
One thing is for sure, we are all designed differently.  The definition of temperament: a person’s or animal’s nature, especially as it permanently affects their behavior.  In this façade-removing episode of the Strong By Design podcast show, guest Jared Haley and host Chris Wilson discuss what Jared refers to as the BIG ugly: Who we actually are and who we portray ourselves to be in the world.  Both guys reveal their personal Enneagram test results and take a closer look at how to truly know ourselves on a deeper level and understand that God designed us all with a plan and a purpose…     "As you learn about yourself, you learn what your weaknesses and strengths are so that you can develop and get better, and not so you can use it as an excuse." - Jared Haley    Time Stamps   01:09 - Welcome to the ‘Strong by Design’ podcast  05:10 – Temperament: What is it and why it’s important to know your personality type  10:44 – Jared Haley and Chris Wilson on building better relationships by understanding personality types  16:38 – The Enneagram Personality Test: Jared and Chris talk about their experience  20:19 – Jared and Chris share the results of the Enneagram test  26:26 – Discover the 9 Enneagram personality types  34:28 – Advantages and disadvantages of learning your personality type  36:22 – Jared and Chris on our reactions towards others in stressful times  46:23 – Living behind a façade: Who are you, really?  50:12 – Why having a ‘safe space’ is important  57:16 – The power of admitting failure  1:00:03 – Jared and Chris on how to become the best version of yourself    Connect w/ Jared:  Facebook  Instagram    Connect w/ CriticalBench:   Youtube  Facebook  Instagram  CriticalBench.com  StrongByDesignPodcast.com
Ep 233 The Grass is NOT Always Greener ft. Chris Wilson

Ep 233 The Grass is NOT Always Greener ft. Chris Wilson
From where we stand, things can "appear" to look better off in the distance.    The famous saying ‘the grass is always greener on the other side’ is often referred to by people pursuing interests other than the ones they’re currently involved with.   However, in reality it’s more like the other famous phrase that goes like this, ‘good from afar but far from good’.   Honestly, how well do we really know other people's stuff? Most people post their highlight reel life and not the day-to-day grind and frustrations but the image they want others to see.    The grass from afar looks perfect, green and full.  However, when you examine it up close you realize it's not so perfect, it's flawed, needs weeding, has dry patches and needs to be cared for just the same as the grass you're standing in.    Remember, the enemy wants us looking backwards... but we are called to look to the present and the future. So, take care of the grass where you are and spend time focused on it.    "The windshield is much larger than the rear window for a reason. Why? Because we need to see where we are headed, more than we need to see where we've been." - Chris Wilson    Time Stamps   00:41 – Welcome to the ‘Strong by Design’ podcast 4:29 – Is the grass REALLY greener on the other side?  06:57 – Host Chris Wilson explores why do we compare ourselves to others 10:20 – What does the Bible say about the 'Grass is Greener" syndrome?  14:57 – The importance of living in the moment  16:14 – Chris on why you should focus on your own grass  18:49 – The power of gratitude  21:00 – Chris reads some great reviews from the listeners      Connect w/ Chris:  Facebook  Instagram    Connect w/ CriticalBench:   Youtube  Facebook  Instagram  CriticalBench.com  StrongByDesignPodcast.com

Ep 229 Do Baby Baptisms Count? ft. Jared Haley
18-05-2022
Ep 229 Do Baby Baptisms Count? ft. Jared Haley
Baptism does not bring salvation.   So then, why do believers in Jesus Christ as the Son of God get baptized?  The concept of baptism seems so simple, get dunked under water by a church pastor and recognize Jesus as your Lord and Savior. But there are so many differing beliefs about ‘why’ we should or should not be baptized and when that should occur.  Why do babies get baptized in many denominations of the Christian faith? And what are the three big reasons why adults should get baptized?  On today’s SBD episode, our guest Jared Haley, pastor and video production specialist for Critical Bench, answers all of these common questions regarding baptism in the church.    "Baptism is not for salvation... My decision to follow Jesus and my salvation,  I have to be old enough to make that decision in my own heart and for my own life. Nobody can make that decision for me." - Jared Haley      Time Stamps   00:00 – The power of walking in obedience to God  00:48 – Welcome to the ‘Strong by Design’ podcast  05:55 – Get to know today’s special guest, Jared Haley  07:40 – Jared shares his kids’ baptism experience  12:56 – Is Baptism necessary for salvation?  21:01 – Baby baptism vs. baby dedication: What’s the difference?  26:51 – The true meaning of Baptism  32:24 – Why was Jesus baptized?  34:08 – Jared on why you should get baptized  46:33 – Is baptism a public declaration of your Faith?    Connect w/ Jared:  Facebook  Instagram    Connect w/ CriticalBench:   Youtube  Facebook  Instagram  CriticalBench.com  StrongByDesignPodcast.com

Ep 228 Never Defeated: It's About the Size of the Fight Inside ft. Jo and Matt Miller
Certainly, you’ve seen or heard this famous Mark Twain quote before:  It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog.  Our guest today on the Strong By Design podcast show exemplifies this statement as good as any human being I’ve ever known or read about.  Get knocked down 7 times, get up 8. This is the motto of powerlifter, strongman competitor, trainer, nutritionist, online coach, sports performance coach and Believe Big advisor Jo ‘ANIMAL’ Miller. Also known as Killer Miller. All 109 pounds of her!  Jo is humble, intelligent, and a passionate woman. But with humility comes a lack of ego which requires a loving, supportive husband like Matt, aka Superman Miller to brag for you. Ep 227 Are YOU the Victim? ft. Chris Wilson
Overcoming the victim mindset begins with you and some accountability. If you see yourself as someone who does not have control over their own life, that everyone is responsible for your feelings, actions and results, then you are suffering from the victim mentality. Your actions can absolutely dictate what does or does not happen to you. In life it is necessary to get uncomfortable to change and to grow. Having the hard talks when you don't want to and the necessary confrontations in the workplace, at home and in any meaningful relationship. Today on SBD coach Chris Wilson shares his personal struggles and successes with accountability and what in his opinion are the best 'simple' strategies to begin holding yourself accountable in life.   "We must train ourselves to use new language in our own heads. The words we use internally matter. What you tell yourself repeatedly you eventually believe... right or wrong." -Chris Wilson   Time Stamps 00:00 – The true meaning of living in the present moment 1:17 – Welcome to the ‘Strong by Design’ podcast 7:19 – Victim mindset: Ways to navigate through it 11:44 – The power of knowing your ‘WHY’ 14:34 – The importance of living in the moment 16:59 – Host Chris Wilson on dealing with difficult times in life 19:43 – Discover the best strategies to get out of the victim mindset 25:38 – The power of positive self-talk 26:40 – The importance of being grateful     Connect w/ Chris: FacebookInstagram   Connect w/ CriticalBench:  YoutubeFacebookInstagramCriticalBench.comStrongByDesignPodcast.com

How bad do you want to [fill in the blank]?  To lose weight perhaps, build muscle or just feel better in your own skin?  Listen, we are all busy people, and we all want to look and feel our best. But life is moving at 1,000 miles per hour every single day with limited time to get stuff done. Ep 225 Finding Peace in a Chaotic World ft. Jared Haley
Above all other things, people ultimately want to find peace in this life.  Things often feel out of our control regardless of how much effort or thought we apply.  So, in this uncertain, fast pace grind we call life, where do we turn for peace, love and truth?  To technology? What about high-priced objects? How about other people experiencing the same frustrations and struggles as us?   Nothing fills that hole in our soul like being in relationship with our Creator. On today’s SBD podcast, special guest Jared Haley and host Chris Wilson talk about life and the path to inner peace.    “When I think about trying to find this inner peace through that relationship, it's remembering that it's a relationship with the Father and the Son... and God truly wants what's best for me." - Jared Haley    Time Stamps   00:52 – Welcome to the ‘Strong by Design’ podcast  04:20 – Get to know Jared Haley of Team Critical Bench  07:46 – The true meaning of Peace  12:04 – Jared on where do we find peace in today's world  16:19 – The importance of peace and harmony in the workplace  20:04 – What does a healthy relationship with God look like?  28:03 – Love ≠ acceptance: Jared on what does it really mean to be loving  35:20 – Is there such a thing as Truth?  41:13 – Jared on how to find peace with God  48:42 – The power of walking by Faith & living in Faith    Connect w/ Jared:  Facebook  Instagram    Connect w/ CriticalBench:   Youtube  Facebook  Instagram  CriticalBench.com  StrongByDesignPodcast.com

Ep 224 Discovering the STANDARD for Masculinity ft. Josh Khachadourian
Most men today are struggling, grappling for their identity.   What or Who is “the standard” for being a real man? What does a good human being look like, a good husband and father… someone we all aspire to be?   In this life of imperfection, sin, poor choices and self-doubt, there is only one man that meets the needs of all men (all people) and His name is Jesus. He is the Standard.  He provides a plan and sets the standard that is relatively unknown to modern Christian men and really men everywhere seeking wisdom, strength, courage and love.  Today’s guest, Josh Khachadourian, is the author of The Standard, as well as a husband, father, leader, coach and host of the ‘Raising The Standard’ podcast.    "A real man can show his emotions... and he's just as much a man when he's on his knees, teaching a child or demonstrating an emotion that others might say 'oh that's too vulnerable.” -Josh Khachadourian    Time Stamps   00:00 – Understanding masculinity  00:59 – Welcome to the ‘Strong by Design’ podcast  3:55 – Meet Josh Khachadourian, author of the best-seller 'The Standard'  07:48 – Josh recounts his childhood and spiritual upbringing  11:06 – ‘The Standard’: Discover the inspiration behind the book  17:02 – Josh shares what it’s like living with the Christian faith  21:30 – Discover the true meaning of masculinity  25:43 – Who sets the standard for men?  32:04 – Josh talks about the book’s clever format   36:25 – Meekness≠Weakness: Josh dives deep into the meekness of Jesus  47:33 – Josh gives great advice to those who want to be a better man  54:48 – What’s next for ‘The Standard’?    Resources  Standard59.com    Connect w/ Josh:  Facebook  Instagram    Connect w/ CriticalBench:   Youtube  Facebook  Instagram  CriticalBench.com  StrongByDesignPodcast.com

Ep 223 The ONE Thing Pros Do (that You Can too!) ft. Douglas Bertram
Often times what makes an athlete a superstar isn’t how high they jump, how fast they run or how hard they hit… it’s their ability to perform under pressure and how they take care of their body.  Sure, to be an elite athlete in peak condition requires years of hard work, a commitment to physical exertion, disciplined nutrition and relentless focus most people don’t possess but it also demands relaxation and rest.   Ever hear how professionals are able to block out the noise and just slow everything down around them? They achieve a state of FLOW. This vital trait goes much deeper than some deep breathing exercises and concentration techniques.   Today’s conversation on the Strong By Design show explores the behind the scenes world of endurance and high level athletes and all that it takes to keep the body and the mind firing on all cylinders.    "How we regulate that stress response is everything man... regulating that autonomic nervous system is the key."  -Douglas Bertram    Time Stamps   00:52 – Welcome to the ‘Strong by Design’ podcast   03:56 – Get to know Douglas Bertram, CEO of Structural Elements   08:19 – Discover the secret to endurance success   17:04 – Douglas gives tips on how to get started with endurance sport   22:10 – The power of relaxation   29:06 – What is the Structural Elements’ approach and how does it help clients?   32:00 – The importance of understanding stress and the stress response   34:36 – Fascia: What is it and why is it important to your health?   40:11 – The best ways to take care of your fascia   49:50 – Douglas reveals the greatest biohack for optimal health   56:09 – Understanding the Chronological Age vs. Biological Age   1:07:59 – Where you can go to connect with Douglas Bertram      Resources  StructuralElements.com    Connect w/ Doug:  Facebook  Instagram    Connect w/ CriticalBench:   Youtube  Facebook  Instagram  CriticalBench.com  StrongByDesignPodcast.com

Ep 218 Protecting Young Eyes Online ft. Chris McKenna
A young person or child can’t “unsee” something they aren’t yet supposed to see… think about that for a moment. Ep 216 Overgrowing Fungus that Lives in All of Us ft. Dr. Michael Biamonte
Sometimes we have chronic inflammatory conditions and we’re not sure WHY we have them… For over 30 years Dr. Michael Biamonte, a clinical nutritionist and author of The Candida Chronicles, has dedicated his life to helping people solve these often-undiagnosed issues. The cause in many cases is an overgrowth of a fungus known as Candida Albicans. This intestinal yeast infection is often missed by other medical professionals due to the vast variety of unrelated symptoms. Today’s conversation on Strong By Design sheds some light on this fungus affecting millions of people in the US alone causing a laundry list of symptoms and how his clinic, the Biamonte Center for Clinical Nutrition, can help remove it from your body.   "The organism actually grows roots looking for sugar.
