People with personality disorders have long-standing patterns of thinking and acting that differ from what society considers usual or normal. The person’s personality leads to social and emotional problems. They are often unable to cope well with life’s stresses and usually have trouble forming and maintaining healthy relationships.

People who have trouble handling everyday stresses and a pattern of difficulty dealing with others may have a personality disorder. Anyone can have a personality disorder. But different types of personality disorders affect people differently. There may be a distortion in a person’s cognition, changes in his affect, or difficulties interacting with others and possibly problems with impulse control. Let's Talk.
