Paralysed In Freefall with Jonas LuetkeIn this episode, I am honoured to share the studio with Jonas Luetke, an adventurer who moved from Germany to Australia at the age of 20 and fully grabbed life by the horns. Jonas shares his experiences exploring the country, from the outback to surfing, scuba diving, and ultimately his greatest passion: skydiving.In 2014, Jonas' life changed forever after a head-on collision in freefall left him a C6/7 quadriplegic. He recounts how his friend deployed his parachute mid-fall while Jonas completed the skydive paralyzed, his following weeks in the hospital, and his incredible recovery process. Jonas’s story is one of incredible resilience, sprinkled with his sense of humour. He talks about his transition into his new reality and how swimming became a form of therapy that brought him close to the feeling of flying. In 2017, Jonas completed an 8km swim from Magnetic Island to Townsville using double-arm backstroke, showcasing his determination and spirit. He took to the skies once more with a paramotor attached to his wheelchair. He was told his chances of walking again were to 2%.
