Many people don’t quite understand spiritual names and why some people decide to call themselves something different when they get on a spiritual path. It’s not as weird as you think. In fact it’s a tradition in many lineages that goes back forever. The Dalai Lama was born Lhamo Thondup and upon becoming a monk he was then called Tenzin Gyatso (short for a much longer name.) So there’s something to it… and in this episode I talk about what I know about the spiritual name practice and how it’s helped me.
