Herman had a very dark side to him even at the age of ten, but he had become very efficient at hiding that dark side and not showing it to the outside world.

As he absorbed every haunting detail from the great fire of Chicago, he imagined his parents trapped by the fire as their flesh blistered and burst, and burned to the bone until there was only ash, and this thought comforted Herman , who we all know now as HH Holmes
