Nebraska Football Coach Matt Rhule is Calm Amid Chaos; March Madness Begins

Locked On Big 10 – Daily College Football & Basketball Podcast

19-03-2024 • 27 mins

While March Madness and the NCAA Tournament begins for men's and women's basketball, Nebraska football coach Matt Rhule finds himself in the middle of a storm in Lincoln.  Athletic Director Trev Alberts is leaving Nebraska to take the same job at Texas A&M.  Ironically, both the Nebraska men's basketball and women's basketball teams drew Texas A&M in their respective brackets Sunday.  That was strange, huh?

STORM AT NEBRASKA

So, in the middle of what was supposed to be Matt Rhule's introductory press conference to kick off spring football, he spent his first ten minutes talking about Alberts' departure and the strength of the athletic department.  It was not ideal, but Matt Rhule was a calming influence amid the chaos.

YOU WANT TO DO THAT?

Regarding basketball, a possible future opponent of Caitlin Clark left some bulletin board material for the Iowa Hawkeyes.  That was dumb.  And we will let you know who did it!

And we discuss whether teams should bail on an opportunity to play in the N.I.T.    6 big name schools, including the Indiana Hoosiers declined to play.  Why?  We have answers.
