Having a background in freelancing, Jenny Bjorklof joins us today to talk about her role in the freelancers in Belgium community. Obtaining her degree in social psychology, Jenny started her career in sales at Clas Ohlson. Quickly she developed as business coordinator for both Volvo Trucks and Timeline Projects. After a successful career she started freelancing and co-founded many start-ups. Some achievements include The Square.Gent, Freelance Business Days, Curator Startup Digest Ghent, Entrepreneurs anonymous. These all led to her current position as head of Freelancers in Belgium. With her experience she is a perfect role model for freelancers and is sure to always give amazing insights. Coming off captaining and managing Esport teams, Tim Buysse has founded HEET.GG. A community of Heroes, united by their passion for Esports and gaming. After finishing his degree in accounting and business management, Tim decided to focus on gaming. Considering himself an Esports dinosaur, Tim spent 16 hours per day gaming and became one of the first Belgian streamers. Eventually making his way to the top playing and captaining for the first team ever that won the League of Legends championship. After a successful career, he decided to focus on managing and founded AbsoluteLegends, a community like HEET.GG. After some setbacks with internal organization, he had to disband the community and started working at Volvo Cars. Now Tim is back in the Esports industry with HEET.GG, one of the fastest growing professional Esports organizations with great passion to guide young and experienced players through their career in a healthy way. In this episode Tim explains the evolution of Esports, how to attract members to your community, changing values in communities, and the use of omni channels to reach members how they prefer.

Graeme du Plessis is head of brand and community at Factory Berlin, where he develops Factory’s brand strategy. Today he joins us talking about how to sustain a community in the biggest collaborative ecosystem in the world. The Englishmen received his Bachelor of Arts in the English Language and Literature. Soon after he started his professional career as social media assistant at Stylebop and turning into social media manager at Appso-Supro. He continued his career at Hungryhouse and Quiet Studios before switching where he currently works, Factory Berlin. At Factory Berlin, he started out as social media and brand manager and quickly rose as head of brand and marketing. In this episode Graeme shares his experiences creating a more diverse community and attending to each of the individual sectors in his community and gives tips on how to integrate new members and make them feel at home.

With an inspiring smile Mattia Schaper, founder of SDRs Germany. Talking about  creating solutions and how she found a gap in the German market, we are glad to have her join us here today. The German born Mattia studied International Business at the Regent’s University in London. During her studies she moved to China where she spent a year at the University of Beijing. Acquiring an internship at Shanghai pharmaceuticals as sales business development. Following her education, she started her first job at Adverity as an SDR eventually getting promoted to a senior position. In 2021, she moved on to sales loft and at a young age was SDR for the Dach region. Finding guidance and help she found none so she decided to create her own community, SDRs of Germany. Now at 850 members, Mattia has created a stable and growing community with many more things to come. In this episode Mattia explains how her community grew so quickly in such little time, the importance of engagement, creating communities by solving problems and the need of constant feedback.

Veerle Windels, fashion freelance journalist, joins us today giving insights into the collaboration between brands and the effect it has on the community. Veerle graduated at The University of Ghent in Belgium in Germanic philology and a major in American Literature. While still at school, Veerle started writing local articles voor De Morgen and once graduated got the chance to cover fashion which she took with no hesitation. After almost 5 years she decided that she wanted to be on her own and started freelance writing for De Standaard focusing on fashion. Since her move, Veerle has become a fashion icon behind the scenes and hasn’t looked back since. Always focused on her career, Veerle has interviewed thousands of fashion designers, written many books, taught at universities, and has traveled across the world accompanied by some of the biggest names in fashion. In this episode Veerle covers her inspiration and results of her first book, fashion in the metaverse, the clash and cooperation between street and couture brands and how these have changed the fashion community.

As creative director Tim Duijf joins us talking about the true champion mentality. The commitment and teamwork it takes to build a community around influencers. After earning his bachelor in economics from the University of Maastricht in The Netherlands, Tim started making videos on Youtube, after no success he was forced to work by his parents. He started his professional career as a teacher in economics, which he enjoyed. After a few months of teaching his students noticed his videos and started to go around the school and the neighborhood. After gaining a few thousand subscribers, Tim decided to quit his job and start making videos full time again. After a little over 2 years gaining almost 300k subscribers, Tim was burned out and wanted to work in the shadows. He started out as content specialist for Riot Games and after 2 years got the chance to work for his idol, Dr. Disrespect. He has now been there for over 4 years as creative director, helping the brand pop out to the Doc’s community. In this episode Tim talks about his reasoning of wanting to work in the shadows, the how and why one should listen to his community, how companies and influencers should work together to create a brand, and the internal cooperation necessary in order to provide content for the community.

Jeff Lovejoy from the Zalando Future Talent Program on the importance of letting a community grow naturally, organically and not have an external driving force. After graduating from the University of West Florida, Jeff did some insurance work before working 13 years at Enterprise Rent-A-Car where he started out as branch manager and made his way through 14 promotions as talent acquisition manager for the department head of Scotland and Northern Ireland. He then moved onto FDM Group where he was the European and North American Recruitment Manager. After 3 years, he decided to join the startup scene at N26 and SumUp respectively where he was Future Talent Programme Manager for both. After Corona hit, things weren’t the same and decided to take his talents to Zalando where he is now talent acquisition lead and manager of early careers. In this episode Jeff talks about the Future Zalent Community, a community full of interns working, students, apprentices and graduates starting at Zalando, which he manages. The impact a manager should have on this community, creating awareness of the community, and how the community builds around the brand are all explained in this episode.
