On 1 December 1948 at 6:30 am, the police were contacted after the body of a man was discovered on Somerton Park beach near Glenelg, about 11 km (7 mi) southwest of Adelaide, South Australia. The man was found lying in the sand across from the Crippled Children's Home, which was on the corner of The Esplanade and Bickford Terrace.[9] He was lying back with his head resting against the seawall, with his legs extended and his feet crossed. It was believed the man had died while sleeping.[10] An unlit cigarette was on the right collar of his coat. A search of his pockets revealed some interesting items.Join us as we look into the mysterious death of this unnamed man dubbed 'The Somerton Man'.Music by: SlipSteam- https://slip.stream/tracks/e9694301-ca75-4d37-a69f-cae399efeee1Sources: . "The Body on Somerton Beach". Smithsonian. "Dead Man Found Lying on Somerton Beach."'Poisoned' in SA – was he a Red Spy?"Unidentified Body Found at Somerton Beach, South Australia, on 1st December 1948https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0bM5kowTu5Qhttps://youtu.be/EX-4hsTkLc8 "Death riddle of a man with no name"Police Test Book For Somerton Body Clue"Jessica Thomson's reaction to the dead man's bust"Emily Watkins "We may never know" The Advertiser "Somerton Man to be exhumed by police in attempt to solve mystery""Dead Man Walks into Police H.Q."Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/motivetomurder. Ep 4: George Floyd

Ep 4: George Floyd
On 25th March 2020 during the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Police were called to the Cup Foods Convivence store at 3759 Chicago Avenue in Minneapolis at around 8pm. A man fitting the description of George Floyd has apparently paid for some cigarettes with a fake $20 dollar bill. Police were directed to the car that Mr Floyd was sat in and subsequently handcuffed and arrested him. Things would take a highly unnecessary turn when Officer Derek Chauvin (now former officer) entered the frame and proceed to man handle George Floyd to the ground and place his knee into the back of his neck for 9 minutes and 29 seconds. George Floyd would shortly after be pronounced dead. This horrific use of Police Brutality would be seen around the world through the general publics videos taken on their phones and the Police Axon body cams. This would cause worldwide protest and also unity between people.George Floyd died for no reason and would more than likely still be alive today if it wasn't for the inhumane way that he was treated by the Minneapolis Police force. We take a look at what happened, why it happened and the reasons it shouldn't have happened.Derek Chauvin was sentenced to 22 and half years in prison for the murder of George Floyd.Funds can be raised for George Floyds family at the below link.https://gofund.me/47ffdd27**Music Courtesy of Slip Stream****Song- Lost Causes**https://slip.stream/tracks/e9694301-ca75-4d37-a69f-cae399efeee1Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/motivetomurder.
