Coastal and other regions are connected with beautiful Ghats in Karnataka. These Ghats are dangerous on the one hand, while stand as the most beautiful region on the other hand. Among these Ghats, Charmadi is one of the most important ghats which connects Dakshina Kannada and other districts of Karnataka.
Charmadi Ghat is situated between Belthangady of Dakshina Kannada District and Moodugere of Chikkamagaluru District.
Charmadi Ghat starts from Charmadi Village and ends at Kottigehara. Charmadi Ghat connects the North Eastern part of Dakshina Kannada to Chikkamagaluru District and the prominent highway is connecting Ujire to Kottigehara.
Ballarayanadurga is a Fort atop a hill located about 10 kms from Sunkasale, on the Kottigehara – Kalasa route.
During rainy season, many tiny waterfalls can be seen here. These waterfalls enhance the beauty of the Charmadi. Charmadi lies in the Western Ghats range which is always covered with evergreen forest. While one side of ghats is covered with waterfalls, the other side with greenery and most dangerous valleys.
Dharmasthala, Chikkamagaluru, Horanadu, and Sakaleshpura are the nearby places one can visit during Charmadi trip. Charmadi can be visited between August to May to experience its untouched beauty.
