Episode 011: More Clarification, Movie Recs, and "Kojak"

Episode 011: More Clarification, Movie Recs, and "Kojak"
This week on the Party, Frank begins by briefly talking about how "back-to-school" time is weird in Canyon (and probably other places) and says he may talk further about it in an upcoming show.Next, he gives a brief clarification about his comments last time regarding college sports realignment, and if you choose to disagree please do so with a true understanding of what he means. He then mentions another forgotten movie called The End with Burt Reynolds, Dom DeLuise, and Sally Field from 1978.  Although a darker comedy for its subject of death and dying, it is slapstick hilarious and he highly recommends it, but does not go to an in-depth review here.Next, he says that he may not be able to review a lot of horror movies (including those that star Priscilla Barnes) for this show because horror is not his thing (comedy is, of course).  But he mentions that some horror films are not actually scary or suspenseful, and may be unintentionally funny.  On that note, he ran across a 1985 film called Lifeforce that stars the attractive French actress Mathilda May, perhaps 20 years old at the time, who plays a naked space vampire in a story that wreaks havoc on London.  Also just a mention and not a review.Lastly and most important, he reviews Priscilla's appearance in another beloved 1970s detective show, Kojak, starring Telly Savalas.  In it she has a dual role playing twin sisters Vicki and Sally Addison who are topless magicians at a casino resort in Las Vegas.Naked space vampires to topless twin magicians...you can't beat that! The theme song is called Retro Funk by SoulProdMusic and can be found at pixabay.com.The End is available for streaming on Tubi, Pluto TV, and Amazon Prime Video.  It is also available on Blu-Ray and DVD.Lifeforce is available for streaming on Tubi, Pluto TV, Amazon Prime Video, and MGM + (streaming or TV channel).  It is also available on Blu-Ray and DVD.Kojak is shown on the GETTV channel and is also available on Amazon Prime Video, Blu-Ray and DVD.--The best way to contact is:Twitter: @frankwebertxWeb:  frankwebertx.comEmail:  frankoweber@hotmail.comSupport the show
Episode 007: "Punchline", "Cannon", and a Facebook story

Episode 007: "Punchline", "Cannon", and a Facebook story
In this week's episode, Frank is reminded of a movie called Punchline from 1988 that has a substantial amount of stand-up comedy, but wasn't that funny overall.  Punchline  was soon forgotten as a film, which is perplexing to this day given who stars in it (think Forrest Gump primarily) and that it is still well-liked as a lighter drama. His favorite actress, Priscilla Barnes, was not in Punchline but she was in the classic CBS detective show Cannon in 1976.  She only appears in the first scene with another young actor known for Airplane!, and then William Conrad does his thing to solve the crime.  Frank summarizes the episode called "Bloodlines".  Hmmm...Punchline to Bloodlines! Finally he tells a recent story where he posted on a Facebook tribute page for another classic TV show.  After a fan posed a simple light-hearted question about the stars of one show guesting on this show, Frank's comment was removed quickly.  But they still thanked him for posting this first time.  Frank points this out as another social media issue and one that may not be helpful for building podcasts, at least with no  explanation given. The theme song is called Retro Funk by SoulProdMusic and can be found at pixabay.com.Punchline is available on DVD and Blu-Ray, Amazon Prime, and Pluto TV.Cannon is available on DVD and had recent availability on MeTV.--The best way to contact is:Twitter: @frankwebertxWeb:  frankwebertx.comEmail:  frankoweber@hotmail.comSupport the show
Episode 005: Show Potpourri, Traffic Issues, and "Licence to Kill"

Episode 005: Show Potpourri, Traffic Issues, and "Licence to Kill"
This week's show begins with Frank giving a special thanks to all listeners/subscribers/downloaders as the podcast is now listed in all directories.  There is also a new "patreon" link  for those who wish to support the show.Frank talks briefly about how he was a little disappointed in last week's show despite getting the content out there, and truly desires your honest and constructive feedback on that and for two new segments he would like to begin soon.  He then tells a funny story about a time when his wife was playing slots in Vegas and he wanted to play a joke.He gets in to commentary about driving and traffic, especially in light of traveling to and from his recent vacation.  Then there is some nostalgia and memories for his dad's (and Frank's) safe driving habits and how things were different in 1993 for Frank's early days of driving.  He then voices some concern with what he sees a lot on the roads now. This week's Priscilla Barnes (PB) feature is the James Bond classic Licence to Kill, where she has a brief but memorable role and is instrumental to the plot.  Frank tells a lot of stories about the Bond franchise and this movie in particular, which he saw twice in the theater in 1989.  There is a brief overview of the plot and some of the actors, and a short discussion of Priscilla's work here.  He then goes over a few scenes and trivia.  Finally, he awards grades to the movie and PB.  While not a bad movie overall, it seemed to break with some previous Bond movie characteristics, and therefore is not one of his favorite Bond films. The theme song is called Retro Funk by SoulProdMusic and can be found at pixabay.com.Licence to Kill is available on Blu-ray and DVD, and streams on Amazon Prime Video or wherever finer movies are found.--The best way to contact is:Twitter: @frankwebertxWeb:  frankwebertx.comEmail:  frankoweber@hotmail.comSupport the show
Episode 004: My Recent Vacation and "Highway to Heaven"
Jul 7 2023
Episode 004: My Recent Vacation and "Highway to Heaven"
In this week's episode, Frank starts off by making two corrections from his review of Vega$ the previous week, including Priscilla's character's famous quote that he continues to flub up before eventually getting right.  He then briefly talks about his vacation to Naples, Florida and how he and his wife would like to move there.  However, financial and quality of life decisions must be considered and then he talks about the migration within the US to places with less taxation and more affordability.  He then talks about his concern that those new places could become like the old in terms of crowding and cost if we are not careful.Next Frank gets in to his review of of Priscilla's appearance on the Michael Landon classic Highway to Heaven in 1989.  Playing a sexy but frustrated Hollywood starlet, she finds herself and true love when she becomes a counselor at a summer camp for blind kids.  After detailing the story, Frank goes in to a brief (and what will be his only) mention of a believed-to-be ominous time in Priscilla's past, some more funny quotes and moments from the show, his favorable grades for both it and PB, and then finishes by discussing how TV and Hollywood in general are missing people like Michael Landon and the family-friendly, inspirational fare he was known for.The theme song is called Retro Funk by SoulProdMusic and can be found at pixabay.com.Highway to Heaven episodes like this one can be found on Freevee, Crackle, Peacock, Plex, Pluto TV, The Roku Channel, Tubi, UP Faith and Family, Cozi TV, or wherever finer TV shows are found.--The best way to contact is:Twitter: @frankwebertxWeb:  frankwebertx.comEmail:  frankoweber@hotmail.comSupport the show
