Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? 2 By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it? 3 Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? 4 We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.Romans 6:15–1815 What then? Are we to sin because we are not under law but under grace? By no means! 16 Do you not know that if you present yourselves to anyone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin, which leads to death, or of obedience, which leads to righteousness? 17 But thanks be to God, that you who were once slaves of sin have become obedient from the heart to the standard of teaching to which you were committed, 18 and, having been set free from sin, have become slaves of righteousness. While we're not under the law, that doesn't mean we're absolved from living in righteousness. We're still called to live holy.God has always expected humanity to adhere to righteousness. This is evident when He cursed Cain for murdering Abel; or when He cursed Adam and Eve for disobedience. Or brought the flood during Noah's day.The issue today, is that people have obfuscated what we've come to know as the "Law".That the advent of Christ and fulfillment of the law means no more law, which means no more 10 commandments. This belief lies within the failure to understand that the moral law has existed as long as God has existed; which is ALWAYS.But there's another viewpoint on this and it's that God is soo loving that He simply doesn't have time for pettiness. The idea that Christ's death on the cross somehow now minimizes the impacts of sin or softens God's view is nothing short of demonic. Many want the pleasure of sin with the benefit of salvation.Only God can judge so who are you to say? It's as if God's Word which makes it plain is somehow null and void?God understands since we're all sinners. - Sure God does understand but that doesn't mean God accepts sin.God loves the sinner but hates the sin - The correct, Biblical way to think about this, is we are either children of the devil or children of God. And only the children of the devil live as the un-Godly. John 14:15-17“If you love me, you will keep my commandments. 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, 17 even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know...
Astrology and Divination

Astrology and Divination
AstrologyThe idea we can extract divine knowledge from the cosmos based on the positions of the sun, moon, stars to inform us about human personalities, traits and possibly our own fate. Reasons it is frowned uponCommon reason it is frowned upon within our faith is due to it being considered divination and God forbids divination.Divination: The ability to uncover secret or hidden spiritual truths to do things like predict the future or make prophetic proclamations. Purpose of the cosmosTo better understand the concern of astrology we need to first understand the purposes behind God's creation.Genesis 1:14–1814 And God said, “Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night. And let them be for signs and for seasons, and for days and years, 15 and let them be lights in the expanse of the heavens to give light upon the earth.” And it was so. 16 And God made the two great lights—the greater light to rule the day and the lesser light to rule the night—and the stars. 17 And God set them in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth, 18 to rule over the day and over the night, and to separate the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good.PurposesGiving light to the earth during the day and nightHelp determine the seasonsHelp determine the days to discern timeAct as signs which are used for navigating the earthGod never defines the cosmos as a means to better understand Him, ourselves, creation or what He is doing. Bible's Stance on DivinationJeremiah 10:2Learn not the way of the nations, nor be dismayed at the signs of the heavens because the nations are dismayed at them - Jeremiah 14:14And the Lord said to me: “The prophets are prophesying lies in my name. I did not send them, nor did I command them or speak to them. They are prophesying to you a lying vision, worthless divination, and the deceit of their own minds - Ezekial 12:2424 For there shall be no more any false vision or flattering divination within the house of Israel. - Deuteronomy 18:1010 There shall not be found among you anyone who burns his son or his daughter as an offering, anyone who practices divination or tells fortunes or interprets omens, or a sorcerer Deuteronomy 18:1414 for these nations, which you are about to dispossess, listen to fortune-tellers and to diviners. But as for you, the Lord your God has not allowed you to do this. FatalismBelief in astrology lends itself to a kind of fatalistic worldview. This means that events can be predetermined simply by the orientation or position of celestial objects; as well personality traits. This robs God of His glory because it is God that holds the entire universe in His hands. He has the supernatural ability to alter the cosmos or life in general at any point in time regardless of what is fixed. Job 9:77 who commands the sun, and it does not rise; who seals up the stars; Psalm 8:33 When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, Ps...

The Prosperity Gospel and People Headed to Hell Without Hearing
How do we help those trapped in the Prosperity Gospel movement? And what about those who end up in Hell but never heard the Gospel? Prosperity GospelPeople are hurting in this world due to a variety of reasons and there are wolves who've been taken advantage of people for several decades.Dealing with those still trapped in itLook for opportunities to address real life problems biblicallyMany people caught up in these movements have also fallen victim to just bad theology all around. One of the best ways to help those still trapped in the movement is not to assault the whole movement or their pastor, but speak to life challenges they may be experience through a more conservative and theological lens.PrayPray for opportunities to speak into their lives with the true Gospel. Those who never heard of the GospelHow do we as believers deal with the issue of people going to hell without hearing the Gospel of Jesus Christ? Points to RememberNot everyone wants to be savedEveryone's trajectory is hell to start with Not everyone wants to be savedThe topic of people dying without ever hearing is a hard topic but we need to fully understand the plight of the world; then it becomes a bit easier. A bit. There's an assumption that if people would hear the Gospel they would come to Christ. But that isn't what we see in the Bible.Satan attempted a mutinyAdam and Eve rebelled against GodCain slew Abel out of rebellion and they knew God because they were already providing offeringsNoah preached and was ignoredPharaoh rejected God despite God proving Himself through his encounter with MosesThe prophets God sent were slain by the people of GodMatthew 23:29-3229 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! You build the tombs of the prophets and decorate the graves of the righteous, 30 and you say, ‘If we had lived in the days of our ancestors, we wouldn’t have taken part with them in shedding the prophets’ blood.’ 31 So you testify against yourselves that you are descendants of those who murdered the prophets. 32 Fill up, then, the measure of your ancestors’ sins! Jesus was God in the flesh and Judas rebelledThe Jews and Romans killed JesusAfter the death of Jesus the Romans started killing the followers of JesusThere are stories of missionaries who traveled the world and were killed or eaten by cannibals for attempting to spread the Gospel.Bottom line is that God knows who is going to respond to the Gospel and who will not. Many people will never respond even if God Himself (Jesus) was before them.We need to trust in God's omniscience. Those who come to God are no surprise to God. Hell is everyone's trajectoryRemember Romans 3:10 Romans 3:9-109 What then? Are we any better off? Not at all! For we have already charged that both Jews and Greeks are all under sin, 10 as it is written: There is no one righteous, not even one.Common thought about hell is people aren't really destined for it, they just end up there because they reject Jesus. This isn't true. Hell is everyone's initial trajectory from birth.God made a conscience decision to intervene and provide salvation via Jesus Christ.God was never under any obligation to save us. God cared enough to IntervenePeople were saved before Jesus Christ arrived. Those who believed...

Is New Age Spiritualism Safe for Christians?
Is it ok for followers of Jesus to practice aspects of new age spiritualism? Show Notes New Age SpiritualismTypical wheel house items are reincarnation, astrology, psychics and the presence of spiritual energySits on a bedrock foundation of Buddhism, Mysticism, The Occult, HinduismIt acts a way to help people connect with the supernatural through natural means as traditional religious beliefs don't offer that. It's believed to be more tangible in a physical sense. In 2018 the Pew Research reported that 1/3 of church goers believed in some form of New Age Spiritualism6 out of 10 people hold on to some new age belief YogaIn Sanksrit the ancient word for Yoga literally means unionThe highest form is called the raja and has the ultimate aim of spiritual purification and self understanding leading to samadhi or union with the divine. The union speaks to what's called the Atman (individual soul consisting of love, light and energy) becoming united with the Brahman (divine or world soul; the greater soul of love light and energy). In the West, Hatha Yoga is practiced. When you practice hatha Yoga, which is based on poses (worshipful postures), those poses focus on Hindu deities.People wonder if you can practice Yoga without giving credence to the religious observance of the Hindu belief system. Most Hindus would say no while in the West we assume yes.The physical aspects of Yoga (Meditation) are tightly coupled to the theistic system of Yoga. For the Christian, the goal is for us to become one in Christ Jesus by way of the Spirit due to the gift of salvation given by the Father. It is to reconcile us back to God.Yoga like many other new age practices have a goal of reconciling the individual soul back to a divine spirit or nature. The danger of driftingIn the OT the children of Israel would often slide into idolatry as they would become exposed to other cultures. Exodus 32:3-43 So all the people took off the gold rings that were on their ears and brought them to Aaron. 4 He took the gold from them, fashioned it with an engraving tool, and made it into an image of a calf. Then they said, “Israel, these are your gods, who brought you up from the land of Egypt! ”The practice of polytheism was something they borrowed from the Egyptians. Jeremiah 19:4-5 (Sacrificing Children; Canaanites)because they have abandoned me and made this a foreign place. They have burned incense in it to other gods that they, their ancestors, and the kings of Judah have never known. They have filled this place with the blood of the innocent. 5 They have built high places to Baal on which to burn their children in the fire as burnt offerings to Baal, something I have never commanded or mentioned; I never entertained the thought. Leviticus 10:1-3 (Nadab and Abihu & offer strange fire)Aaron’s sons Nadab and Abihu each took his own firepan, put fire in it, placed incense on it, and presented unauthorized fire before the Lord, which he had not commanded them to do. 2 Then fire came from the Lord and consumed them, and they died before the Lord. 3 Moses said to Aaron, “This is what the Lord has spoken:I will demonstrate my holiness to those who are near me, and I will reveal my glory before all the people.” Hosea 4:12 (Spiritual Consulting & divination)2 My...

Are Christians Supposed to Tithe?
Does the Bible call us to tithe or is tithing a cash grab for churches? Show Notes Verses used to justify modern day tithingMalachi 8-108 “Will a man rob God? Yet you are robbing me!” “How do we rob you?” you ask.“ By not making the payments of the tenth and the contributions. 9 You are suffering under a curse, yet you—the whole nation—are still robbing me. 10 Bring the full tenth into the storehouse so that there may be food in my house. Test me in this way,” says the Lord of Armies. “See if I will not open the floodgates of heaven and pour out a blessing for you without measure.Matthew 23:2323 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! You pay a tenth of mint, dill, and cumin, and yet you have neglected the more important matters of the law—justice, mercy, and faithfulness. These things should have been done without neglecting the others. Origin of tithingLevitical TitheThe Festival TitheWelfare Tithe Levitical TitheLevitesAaron became the first Levitical Priest and his role along with his relatives were to maintain service the Temple. They were also responsible for receiving the consecrated items dedicated to God, from the people of Israel.Everything that was not consumed by fire at the altar the priests were able to keep. All of this laid out in Numbers 18:8-20.Numbers 18:21-24 - God tells Aaron that he will not have an inheritance in the land of Israel and in return for the work of the Levites will receive a tenth of everything from Israel. Numbers 18:2020 The Lord told Aaron, “You will not have an inheritance in their land; there will be no portion among them for you. I am your portion and your inheritance among the Israelites. Numbers 18:21Look, I have given the Levites every tenth in Israel as an inheritance in return for the work they do, the work of the tent of meeting Numbers 18:2424 For I have given them the tenth that the Israelites present to the Lord as a contribution for their inheritance. That is why I told them that they would not receive an inheritance among the Israelites.” Festival TitheThere was a general tithe that was taken up annually that was classified as holy to the Lord. This was taken up as an agricultural. Each year the Israelites would make their way to the designated sanctuary and fellowship together; eating a certain portion of their tithe. This is an agriculture tithe Leviticus 27:30-3430 “Every tenth of the land’s produce, grain from the soil or fruit from the trees, belongs to the Lord; it is holy to the Lord. 31 If a man decides to redeem any part of this tenth, he must add a fifth to its value. 32 Every tenth animal from the herd or flock, which passes under the shepherd’s rod, will be holy to the Lord. 33 He is not to inspect whether it is good or bad, and he is not to make a substitution for it. But if he does make a substitution, both the animal and its substitute will be holy; they cannot be redeemed.” 34 These are the commands the Lord gave Moses for the Israelites on Mount Sinai.Deuteronomy 14:22-23 (Festival)Each year you are to set aside a tenth of all the...
Jesus and Social Justice

Jesus and Social Justice
Today we discuss Jesus and His relationship to social justice. Oh and Don Lemon tells millions Jesus wasn’t perfect. Show Notes  CNN DON LEMON - JESUS WASN'T PERFECT!Be sure to check out our YouTube video on this → https://youtu.be/2P4pTskuaTk Social JusticeDoes supporting the idea that Black Lives Matter = Social Justice warrior = Marxism = Assault on Gospel?Every immoral issue is a sin issue. Racism is no different. Salvation Isn't ImmediateThe Gospel doesn’t necessarily bring about an immediate change. Salvation is contingent upon God’s arm operating in His time. Sanctification is a process that is lifelong once God has saved someone.Jesus who was the walking Gospel committed Himself to action that brought about immediate change. He didn’t just deliver the message of salvation in passing.Jesus spoke up for those who were discriminated againstJesus cared for the poorJesus healed the sickJesus chastised sinnersUltimately Jesus died so we may all be considered children of God, placed on equal footing as God show's no partiality.Jesus did not take up arms or embark on a mission that was separate from His main mission, which was to bring salvation to all.Everything Jesus did was done in an effort to point people to Him. The miracles including even His birth, the parables, the mission, the chastising, the flipping tables, everything Jesus did was done to point people TO HIM.The moment we look at the work of Jesus and attempt to separate any of His intentions or acts from the Gospel we fail to see the larger picture just like those who rejected Jesus. We fail to understand why He did what He did.Jesus didn't just preach sermons and walk off. He acted. He committed Himself to works.James 2:20-2620 Senseless person! Are you willing to learn that faith without works is useless? 21 Wasn’t Abraham our father justified by works in offering Isaac his son on the altar? 22 You see that faith was active together with his works, and by works, faith was made complete, 23 and the Scripture was fulfilled that says, Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness, and he was called God’s friend. 24 You see that a person is justified by works and not by faith alone. 25 In the same way, wasn’t Rahab the prostitute also justified by works in receiving the messengers and sending them out by a different route? 26 For just as the body without the spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead. DefinitionsThere seems to be different definitions of what Social Justice means depending on your bias.If you have a bias against black people, then social justice may mean marxism, assault on the Gospel, social justice warrior, government handouts, reparations, etc..To paint all Christians who care deeply about inequality or injustice as those who seek to thwart the Gospel of Jesus Christ is wrong. Many proclaim racism and racial inequality is a sin issue, a Gospel issue, but then never preach on it. VictimologyThere is a thought that the idea of Social Justice categorically places people into the status of being a victim who are then no longer responsible for sins or issues in their lives. However this is a bit of a straw-man as not everyone shares the concept of victimology. The problem that America has and has always had, is an inability to sympathize with those who are often victims of the colonist mindset. If you don't hold to a racial bias social justice may mean this concern is everything. That it's at the heart of the Gospel. We need to...
