Door Bumper Clear

22-08-2022 • 1 hr 40 mins

The Door Bumper Clear crew returns from a rainy weekend at Watkins Glen International. Brett Griffin, T.J. Majors and Freddie Kraft begin the show by discussing the teams’ variety of tire strategies with the track transitioning from wet to dry conditions, Brett pronouncing the foreign drivers’ names and which international drivers they would like to see drive the No. 91 car. To start Spot On, Spot Off, the spotters break down Kyle Larson’s winning move on Chase Elliott into Turn 1 on the final restart. They debate the decisions made on the final restart, what Elliott did wrong, and how Larson should feel about winning in that manner. Next, the guys talk about NASCAR’s decision to not start the race in the rain because of puddling track conditions. Brett explains why the cars should not have started pace laps during the rain and why NASCAR needed to more clearly communicate their plan for dealing with the track conditions. Plus, the guys answer whether NASCAR should even race in the rain. Learn why more rain racing could be ahead with an upcoming short track test. Ross Chastain triggered a wreck with Austin Dillon in the bus stop that sent his teammate Kimi Raikkonen into the wall, ending his day. The gang praises the F1 champion for how well he was running at the time and once again question how Chastain will advance past the first round of the playoffs if his aggressive driving continues.  A battle for the win on a late restart in Saturday’s Xfinity Series race at Watkins Glen led to both leaders Ty Gibbs and William Byron spinning in the bus stop. Hear who the guys say was at fault, the mistakes made, and which driver wasn’t willing to accept defeat. The final spot in the NASCAR playoffs comes down to this Saturday night at Daytona. With all three spotters needing a win to earn a post-season berth, hear what their strategies are to have a shot at the victory. They discuss what kind of racing they expect, who needs to perform well and what’s at stake for the entire field. Then, they discuss whether or not they expect the injured Kurt Busch to compete in the playoffs. Hear the situation if he were to not take a playoff waiver, how that changes the playoff field and who would benefit. Learn why the situation may be dependent on the outcome of the regular season finale. In Reaction Theatre, find out what really happened to Ty Gibbs on Saturday, why Ross Chastain isn’t allowed to visit Finland, and what fans thought of Kyle Larson’s winning move. The Offerpad Question of the Week makes the guys ponder Kyle Busch’s future, predict which rides he will not be in and what his current options are.
