Turning 30 and Starting Again when the plan goes to sh*t ft. Dorothy Johnson

Turning 30 Podcast

In honour of the 50th episode of the Turning 30 Podcast, I’ve invited back one of my favourite guest speakers from the first few episodes: break-up coach Dorothy Johnson.

Whereas last time we did a deep dive into the topic of breaking up in your thirties, this time we are in conversation all about building your next chapter when life throws you curveballs that you didn’t plan for.

We so often have our lives planned out in a certain way and then, when it doesn’t go exactly as we expected, we have to redirect and sometimes start from scratch. When this happens, we have two choices: to sit back and hope that things will work out, or to proactively go out and build a brand new reality.

Choosing to believe and taking action to recreate a new plan is the core of what both Dorothy and I do in our coaching programs and we have such a shared mission: to educate that with the power of your mind you can go out and build a life that is so amazing, you will let go of your old plan and be grateful that it didn’t work out!

In the episode, Dorothy tells her inspiring story of going from a gut-wrenching break-up to building a life she loves that ultimately led her to a whole new career in helping others and a brand new fiancé!

We talk about how it feels to go off-course, why time isn’t the only way to heal a heartbreak, practical tips for how to build your life back up again and how to not lose hope when you’re in doubt that the life you want is waiting for you just around the corner.

We laugh, we cry, we preach and we bring our most vulnerable selves to this very important discussion. This episode will give you goosebumps and contains a message that you didn’t even know you needed to hear to help you feel excited about your future.
