We Shall All Be Changed with Whitney K. Pipkin

We Shall All Be Changed with Whitney K. Pipkin
Death teaches us how to live. When Whitney K. Pipkin's mother was diagnosed with terminal cancer, she wasn't ready. How could she be? She searched for resources that could help her walk through this heavy yet sacred time in her life. But she struggled to find the guidance she longed for in a season of anticipatory grief. We Shall All Be Changed is a companion for those experiencing the lonely season of suffering and death. In this book, Whitney reaches across the pages to hold the hand of the caregiver. Walking through death with a loved one can be incredibly isolating and unsettling. This book reminds us that we can experience God's very presence in life's dark and deep valleys. As Whitney draws from her own experience, she sheds light and hope. She shows that we are not alone. And she reveals the mysterious way that God ministers to and transforms us through death and suffering. Beautifully honest and theologically rich, Whitney invites us to consider death so that we might understand life and how to live it. A book for those who are caring for the sick and dying . . . for those who will care for parents, family, or friends in their last days . . . and for those who have already walked this journey. This book is for us. I pray you are encouraged by this episode. Mentioned in this Episode We Shall All Be Changed | Whitney K. Praying Personalities with Janet McHenry
15-03-2024
Praying Personalities with Janet McHenry
You should pray in the morning. You should write out your prayers. You should make prayer lists and pray through them every day. You should pray with others or out loud. We've all heard the "you shoulds" of prayer from pulpits, presenters, and well-meaning friends. But when none of these ways to pray feel natural, what's next? Janet Holm McHenry has studied prayer extensively, and the one thing she knows for sure is that there's no one-size-fits-all way to pray. Instead, there are different styles of prayer—and by discovering the style most instinctive to each individual personality, staying in touch with God throughout the day becomes simple and all the more joyful. In this book, the author helps readers determine their particular praying personality by examining the praying styles of biblical people, spiritual gifts, and various ideas about personality, including the classic temperaments, the Enneagram, and more. McHenry includes scores of bulleted suggestions for developing a praying lifestyle that works for individuals. She has also created a Praying Personality Quiz for readers (available in the book and online) to help narrow down the style that will most naturally fit into how they process a prayer life. Whether a longtime Christian who has tried various prayer strategies but can't keep up or a new believer looking to learn about this spiritual discipline, every reader who dives into this book will come away with a renewed prayer life and a greater understanding of who God created them to be. I pray you are encouraged by this episode. Processing Grief Through Reading and Writing with Sarah Arthur
26-01-2024
Processing Grief Through Reading and Writing with Sarah Arthur
Nearly a decade ago, during National Novel Writing Month, bestselling nonfiction author Sarah Arthur let her imagination run free when she began writing Once a Queen, a novel that had been living in her imagination since the early 2000s. On January 30, 2024, her sparkling YA fantasy will be published by WaterBrook, the Penguin Random House imprint behind the Wingfeather Saga, the bestselling middle-grade series which has sold more than one million copies. Arthur’s first venture into the world of fantasy makes sense, as her extensive knowledge of Lord of the Rings and active involvement in the C.S. Lewis Festival and Madeleine L’Engle Writing Retreats can be felt with the flip of every page — the story is richly woven, atmospheric, and captures the cozy magic akin to classics like The Secret Garden, The Chronicles of Narnia, and A Wrinkle in Time, while also telling a fresh and delightful world-weaving tale for wonder-hungry young minds. Readers are transported to the English countryside alongside Eva, the American teenage protagonist who secretly wishes fairy tales were true. Nevertheless, while spending the summer at her grandmother’s mysterious English manor, unusual happenings in the gardens at night lead Eva to wonder if portals to alternate universes exist…and if her grandmother was once a queen in one of those worlds. Arthur was working through grief while writing this novel, and she hopes the intricate themes of generational wounds, redemption, and imagination will ease the young minds that pick up Once a Queen. Health in Body, Mind, and Finances: A Journey Together with Jamil Frazier

Health in Body, Mind, and Finances: A Journey Together with Jamil Frazier
In a recent survey, I read that while most U.S. adults understand self-care as balancing all health aspects, an overwhelming 41% are engulfed in daily responsibilities, making self-care a daunting task. When do people succeed? When they have support. 60% of adults believe having support is critical to prioritizing self-care. We are social beings who thrive with encouragement and companionship on our health journey. Interestingly, the survey highlights exercise, sleep, and mental health as the top areas of self-care. These are crucial yet often overlooked components of a healthy lifestyle. Moreover, more than half of the respondents view self-care days as a temporary solution, emphasizing the importance of cultivating small, daily habits for lasting change. And I'm here to tell you that EVERYTHING can change when you seek others to help you. In 2023, I never planned on going on a health journey. Truthfully, I just got to the place where I was tired of being overweight and exhausted. I knew another diet wasn't going to work. Instead, I turned to my friend Amber Lia and asked her to be my health coach. I was excited because her coaching was free. But the best part is that Amber had been where I was. She's lost 90lbs and has kept it off for five years. I started my health journey at the end of March and lost over 80 pounds. I leaned into the program, and I turned to Amber for help. She didn't judge me. Instead, she gently guided me. With Habits of Health, most of their coaches began as clients, providing empathy and understanding rooted in personal experience. This program isn't just about offering tools. It's about approaching wellness in a way that encompasses mind, body, and spirit. And the coaches guide your way. It's like a cheerleading squad on your wellness journey!  That's a long introduction leading up to today's guest. Soon after I started my health journey, I started coaching others--primarily for accountability. As Amber says, "The system is already developed. Coaching is just caring and sharing." I love that! Then, I met Jamil through Amber. Amber has looked up to Jamil for help and advice for years. When I started as a health coach, I attended trainings led by Jamil. I soon learned that Jamil is both wise and inspiring. After spending time with Jamil, I WANT to do more for myself and others! God has good plans for us, and I want to follow them well. Because I've received so much encouragement, I asked if Jamil could encourage you through this podcast. Jamil is inspiring but also practical. After tuning in, I hope you'll start thinking differently about your dreams and goals. (I know you will!) I also hope you'll see that "self-care" will impact you and allow you to impact others.   Connect with Jamil: https://www.instagram.com/therealjamilfrazier Would you like free health coaching? No More Bad Days with Gary Miracle
23-10-2023
No More Bad Days with Gary Miracle
Gary Miracle is a Christian advocate and motivational speaker. Michigan-born and Florida-raised by a close-knit family, Gary’s life would forever be changed by two events: First, the day he placed his faith in Jesus Christ, and second, the phone call he got to work with MercyMe, the Christian band that brought the world, “I Can Only Imagine,” as their merchandise manager. Both his relationship with Christ and friendship with the band would have an eternal impact. Gary is the biological dad of three boys and the adopted dad of a forever Colombian daughter. Their family is rounded out by Ecmo, Gary’s service dog. In December of 2019, Gary fell ill, his body in septic shock after an advanced case of the flu. In the days to follow, he survived a number of life-threatening moments including coding and being revived. After falling into a coma, Gary’s family had to make the unfathomable decision to attempt to save his life by agreeing for the doctors to amputate both his hands and feet. Through his long and arduous recovery, Gary had to make the difficult, daily choice to discover a new life that, today, he believes was always waiting on him to experience. A two decades-plus friendship with Grammy-nominated Christian band MercyMe was the catalyst for them to introduce Gary’s story to the world through the music video for their hit song “Say I Won’t.” Today, when Gary isn’t at home with his family in central Florida, he is out on the road sharing his story to churches, conferences, and conventions of how he discovered the life God always had waiting on him, in spite of personal tragedy and trauma. Gary invites everyone who hears his message of grace and hope to profess, “I will have no more bad days! Say I won’t!” “At the end of the day, I’m going to be okay. I’m going to have hands and legs again. I’m going to be playing with my kids. I’m going to walk my daughter down the aisle. I’m going to be able to do all these things because we have a really really good God. And if one person gets to go to Heaven because of anything I go through, then bring it on!” Connect with Gary on his website, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and sign up for his newsletter on his website. More about No More Bad Days When tragedy struck, Gary Miracle could have given up. Instead, he chose a different perspective, discovering depths of grace and heights of hope he had only ever heard of before. At first, he thought he had a bad case of the flu—some kind of bug he’d caught from one of his kids. But Gary Miracle’s illness turned out to be an infection so severe that the only way to save his life was amputating both arms below the elbows and both legs below the knees. The loss of his limbs was not the only challenge Gary had to face. Excruciating difficulties marked his family life as well. In 2020, the Grammy-nominated Christian band MercyMe shared Gary’s story with the world through the music video to their hit song “Say I Won’t,” and he emerged as a powerful voice for the grace of God. In the spirit of Romans 8:28, understanding that God works through all circumstances, Miracle has responded in faith by helping and encouraging others who have faced personal challenges. Today, he travels the world, sharing the hope-filled message that, through Christ in light of eternity, there are no more bad days. Regardless of your circumstances, every day can be a new beginning. If you have suffered loss, experienced trauma, or been forced to rebuild your life from the ground up, this book is for you. Gary Miracle invites everyone who hears his message or reads this book to profess, “I will have no more bad days! Say I won’t!” Purchase a copy of No More Bad Days here. In Conversation with M.D. House
In late 2020, M.D. House semi-retired from a successful career in the Corporate world. He enjoyed his time there and still consults part-time, but being able to pursue his passion for creative writing has been a blessing. Many years ago, while writing on a very limited basis, he came within a hair’s breadth of getting a science fiction novel published. Since embarking on my new journey with much more time and focus, he has published that (very long) book and a sequel, along with six religious historical fiction novels (which were a surprise to me). M.D. House has gotten award recognition, including a Chaucer Award finalist nod for The Barabbas Legacy, along with a favorable review from Kirkus for The Servant of Helaman, a spy thriller. M.D. House’s schedule is filled with new projects, including his first fantasy novel, provisionally titled Crossroads of Sundering Memory, the sequel to The Servant of Helaman, and a pair of screenplays. The third volume of the Patriot Star sci-fi series will be on the docket soon as well. Connect with M.D. House on his website, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Bookbub, LinkedIn, and sign up for his newsletter here.More about Sophia After her miraculous rescue by the angel Raphael, Sophia, daughter of Barabbas and Chanah, sets out with the former slave Onesimus to find the elusive and itinerant apostle John. Once they find him, an unexpected trip outside the Roman empire into the mysterious northern nation of Sarmatia expands her understanding of God’s global efforts to gather his children to their Savior. It also reveals in starker detail the pernicious, pervasive attempts by the adversary to disrupt the work and turn the children of God toward evil and superstition. Pride is her own weakness, and she must learn how to temper and control it, so that her mind might be open to the guidance of the Holy Spirit. What surprises await her as she travels great distances with the Lord’s beloved apostle to spread the message of the gospel? How differently does God see her life than what she has assumed? What will happen to the growing church’s relationship with Rome when Emperor Vespasian dies and his sons pick up the mantle? And how does John continue to have so much energy and faith? And yet, He did promise us that His yoke is easy and His burden is light. So how do we go about seizing the good life from the jaws of depression and hopelessness that threaten us now? Shellie Rushing Tomlinson has walked this path and knows the way. With the Gospel according to John as her roadmap—and plenty of personal stories, insights, and a healthy dollop of humor for good measure—she can help you not only rediscover the peace and joy found in friendship with Jesus, the Lover of your soul, but maintain it over the long haul. Beloved author and Bible teacher Michele Cushatt offers ten practices to strengthen your confidence in God's daily presence and power and build a faith strong enough to endure even the toughest seasons. Life can be hard. Although there are moments of beauty and goodness, more often than not, life is marked by fear, struggle, disappointment, and loss. And we don't know what to do with it. We've tried to find hope and security in various people and places--but each has proved unworthy of our trust. We need more. Something--or Someone--who won't fail us when our world falls apart. In this book, beloved author and Bible teacher Michele Cushatt presents a better way. By exploring powerful personal, historical, and biblical stories of people of extraordinary faith, she curates and shares ten practices to help you deepen your confidence and certainty in the God who can be trusted with your worry, questions, confusion, and grief. As a woman who has been through immeasurable suffering, she writes with both deep compassion and practical insight as she guides you to: Practice lament and process grief without guilt or shame Understand what keeps you from trusting God and how to navigate doubt with truth Learn simple ways to foster shalom and gratitude on a daily basis Develop a fresh, eternal perspective that delivers both peace for today and hope for tomorrow Savor daily "faith-builder" practices to strengthen your confidence in God's love and purposes for you, no matter what happens There is hope in your hardship and a God who is both with you and for you.
