Chapter One - Promising the Impossible
How do people believe these impossible things?
All politicians make campaign promises, some of them even intend and try to keep them. What sets apart the populist is the audacity of promising the impossible. Things not only that they won’t deliver, but that they can’t possibly deliver. The virtually impossible to the literally impossible.
Using recent examples from American, British and European politics we look at the practice, how they were made, WHY they were made, how they are getting away with it, and what you can do about it when you see it.
