The sexual experience within marriage is enormously fulfilling, beyond what any other extramarital sexual relations can give us. However, there is still the tendency to get caught up in an idolatry of the human body because of how powerfully intimate and gratifying sex is. Falling prey to that idolatry leads to all sorts of evil and eventually to the downfall of civilization. The ancient world was filled with sexual immorality, chiefly in relation to worshipping the ancient gods. However, some did have a sense honor, respect, and obligation, viewing the marital relationship as building block of society. Now that we have examined prayer in depth, we moved on to the discipline of fasting which is a very forgotten discipline in modern times. There is a growing fascination with fasting in secular culture that is primarily due to the beneficial physical effects that it can have since it forces the body to rely upon the fat stored up for sustenance and can induce healthy weight loss. However, there are major spiritual benefits as well that help us to connect with God on a deeper level if we are willing to use fasting as a sacrificial period in which to commune with him. As we continue to investigate the prayer of intercession, we encounter the prayer of unity, which is specifically targeted toward those who have confessed faith in Yahweh through Christ Jesus, not toward all people on earth. Unity between believers in the goal of kingdom building and stems directly from the creational intentions within the heart of God, and it is that unity that all believers around the globe are to be praying for, in the same way that Jesus prays for it in the book of John. Now that we have learned how to prayer to internalize the will of God and merge ourselves with him, we can move on to praying for others and for major worldly events and problems that God would change them and mold them into what he wants, into opportunities that will advance his mission. But that does not mean that we are to take giant leaps right away. God is the God of small things, and we need to pace ourselves, making sure that we are keeping up with his strides. The prayer of guidance is a prayer that is important to us all because we resort to it when we want the Lord's help in making decisions that will affect life. The most basic decisions that affect life start at the spiritual level and can lead to drastic consequences, meaning that praying to God for guidance needs to be more than simply asking him to show us a sign or speak to us. The prayer of the relinquishment is the prayer of surrender where we allow our wills to merge with God. This allows us to fall into his arms and treat him like a Father and friend, growing into our role as children. Jesus is the role model for this type of prayer, building on a Jewish heritage that existed since the beginning, starting with Abraham. Check it out. :)

Now that we have imagined the face of God, we are meant to bask in his presence, and the prayer of quiet is the very prayer that encourages and allows for entering into the peace and stillness of that presence. Like centering down, which we called our mini-Sabbath, the point is to rest in communication with the peaceful presence of God by knowing his promises and adopting them as our own. Continuing in line with Richard Foster's book Celebration of Discipline, when we look to creation and really ponder it, really process it, we can see God. The same is true for the current events of our time. Since God is in everything and is constantly on the move to fulfill his great master plan for the rehabilitation, restoration, and betterment of creation, his signature is available in all that occurs around us, so long as we filter out the propaganda and embellishment that the media is so prone to devise and present, we will make ourselves more open to viewing his intentions for the affairs of reality.
