Chitragupta, also known as Dharmaraj is the Lord who keeps records of one’s actions in their lifetime and decides their fate in the afterlife. Chapter 1: Raavan v/s Mandodari | Chitragupta Ki Sabha: Ramayan Edition
In the very first chapter of Chitragupta Ki Sabha, the villain of Ramayana, demon Lord Raavan is questioned by his soft-spoken wife, Queen Mandodari. Although considered docile and timid, she asserts herself and questions Raavan to answer for his crimes. As the graceful queen recounts Raavan’s endless crimes including the abduction of Goddess Sita, the murder of countless humans, tortures on the Devtas, assaulting Rumbha and ultimately causing the annihilation of their entire clan, she doesn’t allow Raavan to justify his action on the false account of bruised ego and wit of words but holds him accountable. In the second chapter of Chitragupta Ki Sabha, the brother-sister duo of Vibhishan & Shrupnakha are pitied against each other. It’s well known that despite being a demon and Raavan’s brother, Vibhishan was loyal to Lord Ram and played a key role in Raavan’s demise. In Chitragupta’s court, Shrupnakha questions his betrayal to Raavan but also blames him for being disloyal to her. Chapter 3: Vaali v/s Ruma | Chitragupta Ki Sabha: Ramayan Edition
In the third chapter of Chitragupta Ki Sabha, Vanar King, Vaali has to justify his action against the atrocities he inflicted on his younger brother Sugreev’s wife Ruma. Amidst a misunderstanding, Vaali is led to believe that Sugreev has betrayed him and planned to murder him. In a fit of anger, he banishes the dutiful Sugreev and assaults his wife Ruma. Ruma is ultimately freed and Vaali is killed by Lord Ram. Chitragupta’s court is filled with Ruma’s painful cries as she questions her brother-in-law who was a father figure to her for his heinous crimes. In the fifth and final chapter of Chitragupta Ki Sabha, Shri Vishnu & Maa Lakshmi’s avatars Lord Ram and Goddess Sita stand across each other. It is said in our texts that no one can escape the results of their actions, not even God. In this final chapter, Lord Ram is made to face the fact that abandoning Goddess Sita was wrong and against Dharma. His one mistake set a precedent in the society where every woman had to defend her honor and anyone could question her chastity.
