Bennett Trying something new may:-Increase your self-confidence -Open doors to enlightening experiences-Improve your memory, mood and motivation-Increase your adaptability and agility-Also, when we experience something new and like it, our brain triggers a release of dopamine.  Why is it hard to try new things?-Humans are often afraid of the unknown. -Familiar things are more comfortable and easier.-Trying new things requires a lot of effort and courage.  Amy & Kat want to do a “Trying Is Cool” challenge!! Are you in?? Some ideas of things to try:Bungee jumping Improv class Hip hop dance class Pottery classAny new habit (daily journal, alarm, meditation)Going somewhere alone A tik tok danceCooking/baking (host a cooking night at house?)Cryotherapy Murder mystery partyNew book  Arthur Ashe says: “Start where you are. You Don’t Have to Live With an Eating Disorder Forever (Outweigh)
OUTWEIGH: It is estimated that over 30 million Americans will have an eating disorder in their lifetime, and something you may not be aware of is that In the United States, eating disorders are the second most fatal mental illness, surpassed only by opioid use disorder. Both of those stats are wild.  It's National Eating Disorder Awareness Week, so NEDA and other organizations will spend the week focusing on people with eating disorders and educating others about eating disorders — both of which are key to change. We highly encourage you to check out the NEDA website for info, tools, support, helplines, etc... It is: nationaleatingdisorders.org  5 Mental Health Self-Help Ideas for you to keep in your back pocket:-Try Mindfulness-Keep a Gratitude Journal-Focus on Sleep-Soak up Uncomplicated Relationships (for example, your pets!!)-Tap Into Your Creativity If you're here because you're curious about whether or not you even have disordered eating behaviors, Mental Health America has an eating disorder test up on their website - the link will also be in the show notes. This test can't diagnose an eating disorder, but it can help you understand where you are. So looking into where you fall with this screening tool could be helpful.  Eating Disorder Test:https://screening.mhanational.org/screening-tools/eating-disorder/  Sending hugs to everyone. You are not alone. And we hope you get the support you need!  Best places to find more about Amy: RadioAmy.com + @RadioAmy To contact Amy about Outweigh: hello@outweighpodcast.com See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
It’s Okay To Be a Glow Stick. Sometimes You Need To Break Before You Shine! (5th Thing)

It’s Okay To Be a Glow Stick. Sometimes You Need To Break Before You Shine! (5th Thing)
This unknown quote is so good: “It's okay to be a glow stick. Sometimes we need to break before we shine.”  The Four Agreements:Be impeccable with your word. Don't take anything personally. Don't make assumptions. Always do your best.  Listener emails from Taylor (about encouragement) and Laney (sharing book recommendations!) A celebrity once ate potatoes for two weeks straight as they opened up about the pressures society puts on bodies, so this got Amy & Kat talking about all the different ways to eat potatoes, and what their last meals would be before they die?? Speaking of dying…Alexander the Great’s three dying wishes are inspiring: Only the very best doctors should carry my coffin: To show that even the best doctors are powerless to cure in front of death. Scatter my wealth on the road to the graveyard: So everybody can see that riches gotten on earth, stay on earth. Leave my hand hanging in the wind for everyone to see: To show we are born empty-handed and we leave empty-handed. POP-UP SHOP FOR HAITI. Details & RSVP HERE!
