The buzz: I’ve looked at life from both sides now (Joni Mitchell). The
prospects for recent university graduates can go one of two ways.
Gloomy. Too many grads are chasing too few jobs, as companies run lean,
lower wages, and cut staff to survive. Optimistic. There’s never been a
better time for college classmates to start a business together with a
brilliant idea, relevant website, social marketing and minimal capital.
What additional skills do they need to reach this side? The experts
speak. Bryan Pearce, EY: “The biggest risk is not taking any risk” (Mark
Zuckerberg). José Fernandez, The Global Good Fund: “There’s lots of
bad reasons to start a company. But there’s only one good, legitimate
reason, and I think you know what it is: it’s to change the world” (Phil
Libin). Sébastien Gibier, SAP: “’What makes the desert beautiful,'
said the little prince, 'is that somewhere it hides a well...’” (Saint
Exupery). Join us for New College Grads: Is NOW the Time to Start a
