Let's Talk about Speaking with Integrity Have you played a game where a message is relayed from one person to another and in the end the message is distorted from it’s original version? There are some important takeaways in that experience.
- good intentions can still result in unwanted circumstances,
- our experience impacts the interpretation of information,
- be really careful with our words because of the impact they have,
- the purest version is usually at the source – the source can provide the best interpretation.
Remember that the thing about hearsay, is you receive it through someone else's filter. That filter may be accurate for them, but may not be that accurate for you and then it gets further distorted by your own frame of reference.
Learn to regard second hand information as something that needs to be validated at the source and something that in most cases should not be shared.
